IIM Ahmedabad Admission & Application Process 2027
IIM Ahmedabad admissions are offered based on entrance exam scores. The admission cycle for MBA programme starts with the opening of CAT registrations. The applications for CAT usually start in August every year and continue till September. The exam is conducted in November. The institute also conducts admission test MBA (BPGP) in BA & AI and MBA-BPGP courses. Before applying any of the offered IIM Ahmedabad courses, aspirants must check below course-wise eligibility:
- For MBA: Bachelor's degree from a recognised university with at least 50% aggregate (45% aggregate for SC, ST and PwD)
- For MBA-PGPX: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline + Minimum age should be 25 years as on Mar 31, 2027 + Minimum 4 years of full-time work experience
- For MBA-BPGP courses: Bachelor's degree/ CA/ CS/ ICWA/ CMA or equivalent in any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate + Working professionals and Entrepreneurs with a minimum of three-year full-time work experience after completing graduation

Application for other courses: For MBA-PGPX, MBA-BPGP in BA & AI, ePGD-ABA, PhD and MBA-BPGP courses, aspirants need to apply on the institute's website. The application fees for registration via CAT/ GMAT/ GRE scores is INR 2,000 for BPGP-BA & AI. The application fees for IIMA Admission Test for BPGP-BA & AI courses is INR 5,000. Aspirants have to pay INR 8,000 for PGPX. Candidates need to pay INR 500 (INR 250 for reserved category candidates) for PhD programme.
Step 2: Entrance Test/ Selection
Aspirants need to provide CAT scores for admission in its flagship MBA programme. Aspirants with CAT scores are shortlisted for Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview round. Call letters are sent to aspirants selected for AWT and PI. Students with scores equal or above IIM Ahmedabad cutoff are shortlisted. Step 3: IIM Ahmedabad Cutoff
The selection for MBA programme is based on CAT scores of the candidates. Students need to score equal or above CAT qualifying cutoff for appearing in AWT and PI rounds. The final cutoff is determined considering academic performance, work experience, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements, CAT score and performance in selection rounds. The overall qualifying CAT 2025 cutoff (Non-PwD) was 95 for General EWS Category, 90 for NC-BC, 80 for SC and 75 for ST category candidates.
Step 4: Admission Confirmation
Once all the selection rounds are over, admission offers are made by IIMA to selected candidates. Admission is confirmed only after the payment of IIM Ahmedabad fees.

Yes, IIM Ahmedabad refunds MBA fees in case of withdrawal of admission after deducting a processing fees of INR 1,000. The refund is done as per the notification from MHRD, Department of Higher Education, Govt. of India. The refund is released to the same account from which amount was received.
