DUSU Elections: SFI holds ‘Sadda Haq’ Rally, Demands FYUP Rollback
SFI in its DUSU Manifesto is promising a Concessional Metro Pass for students, Public sharing of all funds received by DUSU and College Unions to counter misuse of funds and Roll Back of FYUP.
As the Delhi University Students Union elections are coming close, various student organizations are holding rallies. Left backed, the Students Federation of India (SFI) today organised the "Sadda Haq Rally" in Delhi University's North Campus.
According to SFI, the rally was attended by almost a thousand students who enthusiastically raised slogans for SFI to be elected to DUSU, to ensure a safe campus for women, and to oppose the actions taken under the National Education Policy, such as fee hikes and the Four Year Undergraduate Programme.
After the rally, there was a public meeting attended by all the students where SFI's DUSU candidates talked about students' issues in DU and their experiences of being a student.
Arif Siddiqui talked about how the new FYUP programme will lead to an increased dropout rate and will make higher education inaccessible to a huge number of people.
Aditi Tyagi gave her experience of how hooliganism during DUSU especially by non-DU outsiders affects the safety of women on the campus. She further talked about how it's becoming a worrying trend that hooligans are breaking women's college gates and even climbing walls to enter the college without any repercussions.
Nishtha talked about the issues of outstation students and how, since hostel seats are very few in DU, many students have to stay in rented flats and PGs around campus, paying extremely high rents and living in unsafe and unhygienic conditions.
Ankit Birpali, SFI's DUSU candidate who is currently studying at Campus Law Centre, talked about the new BA.LLB programme for which the annual fee is almost 2 lakh rupees. He said that this shows a long-term tendency of DU to start privatising their colleges.
SFI DU Secretary Aman released the DUSU Manifesto in which salient points include -
1. Concessional Metro Pass for students.
2. Public sharing of all funds received by DUSU and College Unions to counter misuse of funds.
3. Roll Back FYUP.
4. 2 Hostels - One for Boys and one for Girls in every co-ed college.
5. Effective mechanisms which involve students' participation to counter sexual, caste and region-based harassment in every college.
6. Specially equipped clinics for the mental and physical health of the students.
7. Provision of scholarships to all economically backward students.
8. Increase funds provided to college societies and cultural groups.
9. Summer and Winter Student exchange programs with other universities across the country to encourage cohesive nation-building through recognising and appreciating diverse cultures and traditions.
10. Revoke fee hikes across the university.

Hi.
Deciding between Kamla Nehru College (KNC) and Daulat Ram College (DRC) for Psychology depends on your preference for campus location, overall college atmosphere and specific subject performance. Both are top women-only colleges, so the choice comes down to personal fit.
