The AILET Syllabus for the BA LLB course is divided into three sections- English Language, Current Affairs & General Knowledge, and Legal Reasoning. However, the syllabus of the AILET PG 2026 includes the core law subjects. The Legal Reasoning section in the AILET 2026 syllabus has the highest weightage of 70 marks. The AILET exam for admission to BA LLB and LLM courses is scheduled on December 14, 2025, by the National Law University (NLU), Delhi. To score better and qualify for the exam on the first attempt, candidates must go through the AILET 2026 syllabus and understand the AILET exam pattern

Q:   Is there negative marking in AILET 2026 Exam?
A: 

Candidates must note that the AILET Exam 2026 has negative marking too. The criteria for negative marking will be based on the formula 0.25*4=1 that means per wrong answer 0.25 Marks will be deducted. Therefore, four wrong answers will lead to deduction of 1 Mark. Candidates must be very careful while attempting the questions paper of AILET 2026. Candidates are advised to solve mock tests and previous years' question papers to get hand on things. Candidates must keep track of time while practicing for AILET 2026 exam.

Q:   Who releases AILET syllabus?
A: 

The AILET Syllabus is published by the NLU Delhi. The syllabus has been announced. Candidates who are preparing for the exam must note that there are no changes made in the syllabus so far.  Candidates can check the syllabus by visiting the official website.

AILET BA LLB Syllabus 2026: Overview

The National Law University Delhi will conduct the AILET 2026 BA LLB exam for a duration of 120 minutes. The questions asked in the exam is 150. Check out the overview of the AILET 2026 syllabus and pattern for BA LLB below.

  1. There will be three sections in the question paper: English Language, Current Affairs & General Knowledge, and Logical Reasoning. 
  2. The duration of the exam will be 120 minutes (2 hours). Candidates will have to answer 150 multiple-choice questions within 120 minutes
  3. Check out the details related to sectional weightage for the exam below.
  • The sectional weightage for the English Language section in the examination will be 50 marks. This section will have 50 questions. 
  • The weightage of the Current Affairs & General Knowledge section in the exam will be 30 marks. There will be 30 questions in this section.
  • The weightage of the Logical Reasoning will carry the maximum in the exam, which is equal to 70 marks. A total of 70 questions will be asked in this section, each carrying 1 mark.

In the exam session 2023, the NLU made some changes in the pattern and syllabus of the AILET LLM exam. The following changes have been made to the question paper of AILET LLM:

  • There will be NO MORE THAN TWO sections - Section A and Section B
  • There will be 100 MCQs.
  • The questions will be asked from different branches of law.
  • Final AILET 2026 Merit Rank - It will be prepared considering the scores of the candidates.
  • Tie-breaker - If two or more candidates secure the same marks, then merit rank will be decided considering

AILET or All India Law Entrance Test is an entrance exam conducted at the national level. The conducting body is NLU Delhi. Students aim for this course for getting admissions to LLM courses in NLU Delhi. This exam is seperate than CLAT.

NLU Delhi BA LLB (Hons) cutoff 2026 is out for round 1 across different categories. For the students belongong to the General AI quota, the AILET cutoff score is 60. For the OBC category, the cutoff score is 330. Candidates can refer to the table below to view the category-wise cutoff details:

No, the presidency university do not accept AILET Score. Candidates have to appear either for PULAT or CLAT to get admission in the law courses offered by the varsity. Without it you can not get admission.
