3. Use 80-20 Principle

A time-tested time management principle, the 80-20 Rule, also known as the Pareto Principle, states that 80% of the results come from 20% of our most important inputs or efforts. This means that focusing the majority of your efforts on the key areas related to a task will yield the majority of the results. The key is to identify the most important tasks that will help you achieve your final goal.

Pareto Principle

Pareto Principle

By applying the Pareto Principle, you can also crack AILET by identifying the key areas where you need to focus your efforts. Here is how you can do it:

  • Most of the questions in the AILET exam, around 70 questions, come from the Logical Reasoning section. By thoroughly preparing for this section, you significantly increase your chances of success.
  • Additionally, review the past 8-10 years of AILET question papers and compile a list of questions that have been repeatedly asked. Focus on solving these questions, as there is a high probability they will appear again in the upcoming exam. This targeted approach will further enhance your chances of success.

4. Keep a Record of Your Preparation and Progress

Keeping a record of your preparation efforts for AILET 2026 can help you stay committed and motivated. Make it a habit to practice AILET exam questions daily or on the specific weekdays you have set aside for study, and keep a record of this practice. One effective way to do this is by marking a tick on your calendar on the days you study for the exam.

AILET 2026 Subject-Wise Time Management Tips

There are some specific tips, which can help manage time for the subject-wise preparation for the AILET exam:

1. English Language

  • Allocate about 15 minutes to this section. Skim through the passages quickly to get the gist, then focus on answering the questions.
  • Use the remaining time for grammar-based questions and vocabulary, ensuring accuracy to avoid negative marking.
  • Start with the easier questions to build confidence and save time for the more challenging ones.

2. Current Affairs & General Knowledge

  • This section requires less time as it is fact-based. Answer questions you know immediately and skip those you’re unsure of, marking them for review if time permits.
  • Regularly update yourself with current events and important historical facts to improve speed.

3. Logical Reasoning

  • Focus on identifying patterns in sequences and analogies quickly.
  • Allocate time to understand the arguments, identify assumptions, and draw conclusions.
  • Balance speed with accuracy, as logical reasoning can sometimes be tricky.

AILET Time Management Tips: During the Exam

Exams can be stressful for many candidates, causing nervousness and mistakes while solving questions. To manage exam stress, it is essential to manage time effectively. With this in mind, we have outlined some of the most effective time management tips that candidates can use during the AILET exam.

How to Manage Exam Stress?

If you feel nervous during or before your AILET 2026 exam, it is important to understand the objective of taking the test. The purpose of the exam is to shortlist candidates for admission to NLU Delhi, where the number of seats available for each course is very limited. If you try your best but cannot crack the exam, there is no need to be stressed or worried because a large number of candidates are competing for a few seats, and most of them will not be selected due to the limited availability.

Even if you do your best and do not qualify, there are plenty of other options to pursue your dream career in law. You can take the CLAT or other entrance exams, or seek admission to colleges that accept scores from other Law entrance exams. What truly matters in the end is your skill set. How effectively you learn both the practical and theoretical concepts of law will determine your success as a lawyer.

Moreover, before entering the exam hall, it is crucial to leave all your worries behind and use the best of your knowledge to perform well in the AILET exam. Worrying can negatively affect your performance.

Practice deep breathing before the commencement of the test to help you become mentally relaxed. As a result, you will be able to focus better during the exam.

The Right Approach to Solve AILET 2026 Question Paper

If you want to manage your time effectively during the AILET 2026 exam, consider the following tips to approach the questions in the right way:

  • Scan the Entire Question Paper: Begin by scanning the entire question paper and identifying the section that you find the easiest. Start by solving this section first.
  • Skip Difficult Questions: If you encounter a question you don’t understand or find difficult, skip it. Focus on solving questions you are confident about. Don’t waste time trying to solve questions that seem challenging to you.
  • Allocate Time for GK and Current Affairs: Dedicate 10-15 minutes to solving the General Knowledge and Current Affairs questions. These are fact-based questions that typically require minimal effort to solve. The section carries a weightage of 30 marks, so if you can answer all the questions correctly, you will earn +30 marks.
  • Be Aware of Negative Marking: AILET 2026 has a negative marking of -0.25 per incorrect answer. Therefore, avoid answering any questions you are doubtful about.
  • Keep Track of Time: Monitor the time closely to ensure you are adhering to your planned time allocation for each section.
