The AILET 2026 counselling will be conducted for candidates who desire to take admission to the BA LLB and LLM courses at the National Law University Delhi. The examination cell will release the AILET 2026 Counselling Dates online. The merit lists will be released based on the scores achieved by the candidates, and the selected students will have to report to the University for seat confirmation and document verification within a due course of time. The separate merit list will also be released for the candidates belonging to Foreign Nationals & OCI/PIO Category. The counselling invitation will be sent for candidates who will clear the exam for which a separate counselling registration will be needed to complete.AILET 2026 First Merit List is expected to be released in the last week of December 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for Participation in AILET 2026 Counselling

The candidates whose names appear in the AILET 2026 merit list will have to ensure to meet the eligibility criteria during the AILET counselling. The examination cell will prepare a category-wise list of the candidates. Candidates can check the AILET BA LLB & LLM Eligibility Criteria in the table given below,

Educational Qualifications	Candidates must have passed their class 12 exams with minimum 45% scores from a recognized institute. SC/ST/PwD candidates must score a minimum 40% aggregate score in their class 12. The minimum qualifying marks for OBC candidates in Class 12 is 42%. Candidates who are appearing for their class 12 exams are also eligible to appear for the AILET exam.	Candidates must have attained their LLB degree or an equivalent law degree minimum 50% scores from a recognized institute. SC/ST/PwD candidates must score a minimum 44% aggregate score in their LLB course. Candidates who are appearing for their final year/semester of their LLB programme are also eligible to appear for the AILET exam.
Age Limit	There is no age limit to take up the AILET exam.	There is no age limit to take up the AILET exam.

Follow the below-mentioned process to register online for AILET 2026 counseling-

Log on to NLU Delhi website and check if you have been invited for counseling.
If you are invited for counseling, then you need to complete the process.
Upload all the prescribed documents.
Pay the counseling fee.

The counseling fee has to be paid online using Digital Payment methods like Credit/ Debit cards, Net-banking, UPI, etc. only.

Q: How many times AILET 2026 exam is held?

The AILET (All India Law Entrance Test) is conducted once a year. It is held in December for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs at the participating National Law Universities (NLU Delhi). AILET 2026 will be held on December 7, 2025. AILET Exam is held in pen-and-paper mode. However, for admission to all other NLUs across India, CLAT exam is conducted.

AILET Counselling 2026: Important Documents

The list of documents that candidates need to keep ready and upload at the time of counselling registration includes:

Statement of Marks of BA LLB.(Hons)/LLB (valid for only LLM candidates)
Class 10 marks statement
Class 12 marks statement
Character Certificate from the school/college last attended
Category certificate, if applicable
Any other supporting document to claim seat for the category applied

Note: All the documents should be self-attested and uploaded in PDF format (in one file) in the above serial order only.

AILET Counselling Fee Refund

The AILET counselling fee of INR 30,000 (INR for reserved category candidates) will be refunded only to candidates who have successfully registered for the counselling and paid the fee but due to but due to higher cutoff could not find a place in the merit list. The refund will be initiated by NLU Delhi on completion of the admission process, whichever is earlier. The counselling fee will be refunded to the same account from which it was paid.
