AILET Exam Pattern 2027 (BA LLB & LLM) provides exam mode, duration, marking scheme, negative marking, and weightage in a detailed way. It helps law candidates understand exam paper expectations. The AILET exam pattern is released by the National Law University Delhi on the website nationallawuniversitydelhi.in, along with the AILET notification. The AILET paper will carry 150 questions in MCQ format.

All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is an objective-type test. It means there will be no descriptive sections in the AILET question paper. Questions will be asked from three subjects: English Language, Current Affairs & GK, and Logical Reasoning. Q:   Is there negative marking in AILET Exam?
A: 

Candidates must note that the AILET Exam 2027 has negative marking too. The criteria for negative marking will be based on the formula 0.25*4=1 that means per wrong answer 0.25 Marks will be deducted. Therefore, four wrong answers will lead to deduction of 1 Mark. Candidates must be very careful while attempting the questions paper of AILET 2027. Candidates are advised to solve mock tests and previous years' question papers to get hand on things. Candidates must keep track of time while practicing for AILET 2027 exam.

The AILET UG (BA LLB) exam is overall moderate in difficulty level. The English section is easy, the GK & Current Affairs section is moderate, and the Logical Reasoning is moderate to hard.

Q:   What is the marking scheme of AILET for BA LLB?

The marking scheme for AILET will be as under-

  • +1 mark each correct answer 
  • -0.25 marks for each incorrect attempt. 
  • No marks will be awarded or deducted for questions not attempted
Q:   Are there any changes to the AILET syllabus?
A: 

No changes have been made in AILET yet, and it will be the same as last year syllabus. The major changes were made in AILET 2022 BA LLB and LLM syllabus only. For instance, the BA LLB question paper will now have only THREE sections (instead of five). The weightage of the three sections has also changed. In the case of LLM, the modified syllabus will have questions from two sections. Also, the tie-breaker procedure has been updated.

You should take regular mock tests and soleve previous years question papers. One mock test each day will help you in revising your concepts apart from building your confidence.

Q:   Is AILET exam tougher than CLAT?
A: 

Many students feel the AILET exam is a bit tougher than CLAT because it has fewer seats and high competition. The AILET syllabus focuses more on reasoning and legal aptitude. Both tests need good preparation, but AILET 2027 usually has a higher cutoff for AILET colleges under NLU Delhi.

Q:   How many times AILET exam is held?

AILET (All India Law Entrance Test) is conducted once a year. It is held in December for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs.

AILET syllabus and CLAT syllabus is not same, both the exams have some common sections but AILET exam does not ask questions from Legal and Quantitative aptitude.

Q:   Why is AILET exam important?
A: 

AILET is important because it is the only entrance exam that law aspirants can qualify and be eligible for most prominent National Law University in India; i.e. NLU Delhi. It is also one of the most competitive law entrance exams for admission to NLU Delhi, as it doesn't accept CLAT score. Apart from this, many Public Sector Undertaking (PSUs) in India accept AILET LL. M. scores for the recruitment of candidates.

Q:   Can I give both AILET and CLAT?
A: 

Yes, students aspiring to expand their chances of admission to all the NLUs in India must given both the entrance exams. Both, CLAT and AILET will be conducted a week apart in the December month. The syllabus for the AILET & CLAT are almost same, infact the AILET exam has less number of sections than CLAT exam. Students aspiring to sit for both the exams may prepare simultaneously focusing on each section to be asked in exam.

Q:   Which subject has the maximum weightage in the AILET exam?
A: 

The Logical reasoning section carries the maximum weightage; i.e. 50 per cent in the AILET exam. Reasoning is actually a combination of both verbal logic, as well as analytical reasoning. So, one part is full of numbers and data, while the other is made of words and puzzles. Reasoning needs ample practice. Books by MK Pandey and RS Aggarwal will suffice. For Data Interpretation (DI) questions, the trick lies in forming the table. Once this is done, the rest of the questions flow automatically. Hence, the students are advised to prepare this subject carefully and give special attention.
