CLAT 2026 Topper Chhavi Poplani says 'Analysed my mistakes after each mock tests'

CLAT UG 2026 Topper Chhavi Poplani, in an exclusive interview with shiksha.com, discussed how her right strategy and plan helped her to bag not only a CLAT Rank under 50 but also emerge as Jaipur Topper. "After every mock, I sat for analysis and checked whether I was repeating mistakes. This way, I got to know which topic or section was troublesome, and then I used to interact with the faculty of the respective subject and they guided me on how to work on it. And my strength was GK because I used to revise it daily," she said.

Q. Congratulations! Did you expect to be the topper of CLAT 2026?
Honestly, deep down, I believed that I may be able to make it into the college I was targeting for all the efforts I had put in. I was confident that I had prepared sincerely and consistently for CLAT 2026. But ranking under 50 and being a Jaipur Topper came as a surprise to me, and I was so amazed.

Q. What was the preparation strategy that helped you crack CLAT 2026?
I had been preparing for 2 years alongside my schoolwork. I worked on weak areas and gave mocks of many variations. I followed everything my teachers advised. I showed up even on low motivation days. I focused on reading newspapers, editorials and worked on vocabulary. My main focus was on building accuracy with speed.
Q. How did you manage time between board exams and entrance exam prep?
This was somewhat troublesome, but I managed because I prioritised CLAT over board exams. I knew after CLAT, I would have a month to prepare for board exams. Being a humanities student, this was manageable. Also, my school was very supportive during the entire process.

Q. Did you take any coaching for this exam?
Yes, I entirely depended on Law Prep Tutorial for materials, mocks, monthly magazines, etc. They have a great faculty. I was enrolled as a 2-year foundation batch classroom student. The teachers were always available for doubt solving and the constant motivation lectures kept me on my toes.
Q. What study plan did you follow for this exam?
I used to revise current affairs daily. Apart from that, I used to do 2-2 subjects on alternate days. This way, I could practice all the subjects. Along with practice, I used to regularly revise legal concepts. And QT practice was a must. Alongside, I also did Analytical reasoning practice regularly as I was also preparing for AILET 2026 .
Q. Which books did you read to prepare for the exam?
I read only the preparation material given by the coaching institute. It covered everything important for the exam: vocabulary, CLAT Express, and practice modules.
Q. How did you deal with your strengths and weaknesses while preparing for the exam?
After every mock, I sat for analysis and checked whether I was repeating mistakes. This way, I got to know which topic or section is troublesome, and then I used to interact with the faculty of the respective subject and they guided me on how to work on it. And my strength was GK because I used to revise it daily.
Q. What other law entrance exams did you take or are planning to take?
I had also taken the AILET exam in which I bagged an All India Rank of 104, and my score was 130.25. I had also appeared SLAT exam and secured 99.30 percentile.
Q. Was law always your first preference?
Yes I decided to pursue law when I was in 4th standard. This career attracted me more than any other because of my personality. I love arguing with facts, forming opinions and standing my ground.
Q. Any tips for students who are planning to take the exam next year?
Revise regularly, give as many mocks as you can, practice in a time-bound manner without compromising your accuracy, and interact with the faculty of subjects to be guided in a structured way.
Q. What are your future plans?
I aspire to be an International lawyer working with agencies such as UN. And after in life, I also wish to work in the Supreme Court of India as a Justice.

No, CLAT is not compulsory to take admission in Ishaan Institute of Law. The institute offers admission into the courses such as LLB, BA LLB and LLM based on the merit achieved by the candidates in their last qualifying exam. Application process is compulsory and it can be conducted online/offline.

You can find it on many platforms, such as Lawprep Tutorial and Shiksha itself, but I'm a Law Prep student, and I found their format of solutions better.

Based on recent CLAT analyses, the English Language and General Knowledge & Current Affairs sections were rated as the easiest. English is more about reading comprehension with direct questions. GK is highly scoring for those with consistent, up-to-date daily news preparation.

Whether SLS Pune is better than an NLU really depends on what you want. SLS Pune gives a strong private college aura, with a good campus, nice location, and a good brand name. Many people think it's ahead of some low-tier NLUs (Tier 2 or Tier 3). But the top NLUs like NLSIU Bengaluru or NLU Delhi st
