AILET syllabus 2024 - The National Law University, Delhi will share the All India Law Entrance Test 2024 exam pattern alongwith the admission notification. Candidates appearing for AILET 2024 must check the exam pattern to get an overview of question paper for BA LLB and LLM entrance exam. The AILET BA LLB question paper has three sections, as Legal Aptitude and Mathematics sections have been removed in previous year question papers. Meanwhile, the AILET LLM paper has two sections - Section A, which is objective-based will include questions from the English Language and Legal Reasoning and will be of 100 marks. Section B will be a descriptive type paper and include questions from core law subjects; it will carry 50 marks.The AILET 2024 exam will be conducted in a pen-and-paper mode in 24 cities across the country. Changes in AILET 2024 BA LLB Syllabus

  1. There will be THREE sections - The Mathematics and Legal Aptitude sections have been dropped from AILET 2022 onwards. So, instead of five sections (like in previous editions of the exam), we now have three sections.
  2. Section-wise weightage changed - The number of sections has been reduced, but the total number of questions stays the same - 150. The Logical Reasoning section now carries almost 50% weightage.
  3. Questions related to Legal Principles - The Logical Reasoning section may use Legal Principles to test the candidates' understanding and familiarity with legal reasoning. However, no prior knowledge of law or technical understanding of legal principles/ legal terms is needed to answer these questions.

AILET Exam Pattern 2024: LLM Course 

As per the new pattern of AILET LLM, there will be two sections - Section A will include objective-type questions, while Section B will be a descriptive-type paper. The question paper pattern for AILET LLM will be as under:

Changes in AILET 2024 LLM syllabus

According to the exam authority, the following changes have been made in the question paper of AILET LLM:

  • There will be TWO sections - Section A and Section B
  • Section A will be multiple-choice, while Section B will be descriptive.
  • Section A will have two parts - Part A - English language (50 questions; 50 marks), and Part B - Legal reasoning (50 questions; 50 marks)
  • Section B will have eight to ten questions from different branches of law. The candidate has to answer any two (25 marks each).
  • Evaluation of Section B - NLU Delhi will make a shortlist of candidates based on Section A scores. The number of candidates included in the list will be three times the number of seats available for each category. Section B will be evaluated for only such candidates included in the shortlist.
  • Final AILET 2024 Merit Rank - It will be prepared considering scores of both Section A and B.
  • Tie-breaker - If two or more candidates secure the same marks, then merit rank will be decided considering

    • Computerized draw of lots. 

AILET UG 2024 Syllabus for English Section

AILET questions will carry 35 questions of one mark each for English. The section will be based on topics of General English and grammar as under:

  • Grammar
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Inference-based questions
  • Synonyms
  • Antonyms
  • Word Usage
  • Foreign Words/Phrase
  • Para Jumble

AILET UG 2024 Syllabus for GK and Current Affairs Section

The section will carry 35 marks from the total score. Candidates will be attempting questions from General Knowledge and Current Affairs based on the topics as under: 

  • International events
  • UN bodies
  • Major developments in the areas of sports, geopolitics, and important environmental agreements
  • Current affairs
  • Eminent personalities
  • Sports
  • Awards and honours

Q. When will the AILET 2023 syllabus be released?

A. NLU Delhi will release the updated AILET 2023 syllabus for the BA LLB and LLM programs along with the admission notification. Candidates need to follow the current syllabus only, and not the syllabus from previous editions.

Q. Are there any changes to the AILET syllabus 2023?

A. No changes have been made in AILET 2023 yet, and it will be the same as the last year syllabus. The major changes were made in AILET 2022 BA LLB and LLM syllabus only. For instance, the BA LLB question paper will now have only THREE sections (instead of five). The weightage of the three sections has also changed. In the case of LLM, the modified syllabus will have questions from two sections. Also, the tie-breaker procedure has been updated. 

Q. Do I need to follow the modified syllabus for AILET 2023, or should I continue following the previous syllabus?

A. Candidates must strictly follow the modified syllabus only, as questions will be asked as per the new syllabus. The old syllabus will not be followed. Also, follow the latest AILET 2023 exam pattern. 

Q. Which section will carry maximum weightage in AILET 2023 syllabus?

A. The Logicial Reasoning section will carry a maximum weightage of almost 50%. So, the candidate needs to pay special attention to the section to get a good score in the exam.

Q. Will the AILET 2023 question paper include questions on Legal Principles?

A. Yes, the question paper may have Legal Principles-based questions that will test candidates understanding and familiarity of legal reasoning. However, you don't need any prior knowledge of law or technical understanding of legal principles/ legal terms.

Q. How will the merit rank of candidates decided if two or more candidates score the same marks in AILET 2023?

A. In the case of BA LLB, the tie-breaker will be decided in the following way:
  1. Marks obtained in Legal Reasoning Section
  2. Senior in Age
  3. Computerized draw of lots
