What is the Film and Television Institute of India?

The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, is one of India’s top Film and TV institutes, offering industry specific programs in Direction, Cinematography, Editing, Sound Design, etc. These programs are designed to meet the latest demands and challenges of the film and TV industry. Established in 1960, FTII has produced graduates who have made major contributions to the film and television industry. No, FTII doesn't offer any Master's courses. The Film and Television Instiute of India offers admission to only Postgraduate Diploma courses. Candidates should go through the prospectus before filling the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test (FTII JET).

Q:   Does FTII offer a course in Sound Design?
A:

Yes, the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) offers a course in Sound Recording and Sound Design. Candidates will have to clear the FTII JET exam to get admission in Sound Design course. The Sound Engineering Course in Sound Recording & TV Engineering will teach students about the various technical & aesthetic aspects of Sound, enabling them to create effective soundscapes.

How to Get Admission into FTII Pune?

Q:   Does FTII offer undergraduate degree courses in Film Making?
A:

No, FTII does not offer undergraduate degree courses. They only offer postgraduate Diploma and certificate courses under their film wing and television wing. However, they do have one Undergraduate Certificate course in Animation & Visual Effects Design.

To gain admission into FTII Pune, candidates have to pass its entrance exam FTII JET. The exam is held annually, and candidates who qualify in the exam are called for the counselling process, post which candidates are allotted seats to their preferred courses based on the merit list and empty seats in each course.
