About FTII JET
The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) conducts the Joint Entrance Test (JET) to shortlist candidates for its Film and TV courses in FTII and SRFTII. The FTII JET exam is conducted annually. It is one of the top Film and TV exams and is conducted in offline mode. The FTII JET exam has two stages - Written Test and Interview. Candidates' performance in both these rounds will be evaluated before declaring the final merit list, and will determine their qualification chances.

To fill the application form of the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test (FTII JET) examination. Candidates must be minimum 21 years of age. The minimum educational qualification required for candidates to apply for the FTII JET examination is graudation in any discipline. However, for candidates who want to apply for Art Direction and Production Design course they will have to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Arts, Architecture, Painting, Sculpture, Interior Design or related fields in Fine Arts.
The minimum passing marks for the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test varies, however, the minimum final cut-off marks to qualify for admission in FTII are: i) 50% for General category. ii) 45% for OBC NCL category. iii) 40% for SC/ST category.

The exam conducting authority prescribes the minimum eligibility criteria for the FTII JET. Desirous candidates who wish to pursue a career in filmmaking by taking admission into the FTII or SRFTI must meet the minimum eligibility criteria. As per the official website of FTII, aspirants must be above 21 years of age, and the minimum educational qualification required to fill the FTII JET application form is a bachelor's degree (in any stream) except in three-year PG Diploma in Art Direction & Production Design. FTII Scholarships
Being a government institute, the FTII Fees for the programme are nominal and affordable for students. However, to boost meritorious students as well as to support students who are not financially sound, the institute offers scholarship opportunities. Candidates can find the name of the scholarship and financial aid in the table below -
FTII provides scholarships to 7 toppers in each of the Film Wing Courses. The aid is INR 12500 per student. It also provides 5 scholarships on Common Module (Editing, Sound Recording & Sound Design, Art Direction & Production Design, and Screenplay Writing) first three toppers and the amount of INR 24000, 21500, and 19000 respectively. Acting Topper gets a scholarship of INR 24000, and Screenplay Writing Topper gets INR 24000. There are 14 scholarships for each course's First and Second topper; the amount for 1st is INR 13500 and 2nd is INR 11500.
As per the admission process of JET exam, candidates first need to quaify in teh FTII JETe exam and subsequent rounds of the Orientation / Interview process. On the basis of performance in JET, the list of candidates shortlisted for the next level of selection will be made available on the website of the Institute. The institute will send interview letters to the shortlisted candidates directly. Students final selection will be based on their JET scores, and performance in the orientation & interviews rounds. The criteria for short listing may vary for different courses for this regard canddiates are advised to check the official notification in detail as well as the counselling page of FTII JET exam.
For sound engineering, candidate's need to have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with Physics as a subject at senior secondary (10+2) level also they will have to qualify in the written examination of the Joint Entrance Test (JET) of 3 hours duration for 100 marks, conducted at examination centres around the country.
There is a cut off which is defined after the exam is conducted. The FTII JET cut off is defined based on various factors such as the exam's difficulty level, total number of applicants who appeared in the exam and the shifts under which the exam is conducted. Candidates who score equal to or more than the FTII JET cut off will qualify in the exam. As far as the minimum passing marks of FTII JET varies, the minimum final cut-off marks to qualify for admission in FTII for General Category is 50% for General category while that for OBC NCL category is 45%.

Which is better FTII or NSD?
Both these institutions have varied characteristics, FTII provides courses in Film and TV making whereas NSD which stands for National School Drama provides courses in Drama and Acting. It mainly focuses on Theatre and Drama activities. As a whole, we can say that FTII prepares students who can work behind the camera, while NSD prepares students to face the camera.
How many seats are there in FTII?
The seats in FTII are very limited. For example, the Film wing has 10-12 seats in each course. In Direction, Screenplay Writing, Editing, etc it has 10-11 seats only.

On clearing the Joint Entrance Test (JET), students can get admission into Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) as well as the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute of India (SRFTI).
