Students’ Speak: Brush up your basics to become placement-ready
Every MBA student aims to qualify in-college placement interviews. To be successful in placements, you need to pick the active categories/specialisations of your college. Most of the students are selected based on their ability to learn something and showcase those activities. You have to be more enthusiastic about the placement preparation in your college.
For instance, listen to your placement coordinators and follow their instructions. Be ready with your placement kits and stay energetic in your placement preparatory classes. Placement tips that students should follow:
- You should have clearly defined skillsets to sit for the placements.
- You should be well-versed in your field of specialisation.
- Most important thing is that you should possess good selling skills, from whichever department you belong to.
- You should have proper knowledge about the particular company for which you are sitting for the placement, such as who is the present CEO of the company, establishment date, annual revenue, etc.
- You should be good with numbers. This means, you should be good in quantitative ability, whether it is an HR-based company or finance-based, numbers play a great role.
- You should have at least basic knowledge of current affairs. For this, you can read business newspapers such as Economics Times, Business Standard, Financial Express, etc.
- At last, you should prepare group discussion quality, especially on the current topics related to business and politics. This plays an important role in your placements. To follow this, you should have command on your English communication skills. To cover all the above points, you have to follow directions of the placement cell and of the soft-skill department of your college.
Let’s talk about the placement cell of Mittal School of Business, Lovely Professional University (LPU) here. The placement cell helps you prepare for Group Discussion and Personal Interview skills (these skills are taught from the very first week of your session). The cell keeps a record of every student studying in the college and in the very first trimester, informs students interested in internships or placements, to fill the placement application forms. Students who opt for placements will then have to register themselves in the placement portals at a subsidised rate (placement registration cost). After that, their placement preparatory classes are held every Saturday. In placement preparatory classes, students get a chance to interact with higher dignitaries from various industries and higher institutions such as IIMs, IITs and also from various multinational companies and foreign universities. After two weeks of placement preparatory classes, the college organises AMCAT test that helps understand students’ capabilities. Placement cell then begins focusing on students according to their capabilities and teach subjects related to their specialisations and skill-based subjects necessary for the jobs.

Both are solid choices, but honestly, if I had to lean somewhere, I'd go with B.Tech CSE from LPU. Here's why a B.Tech degree simply carries more weight in the industry. Whether you're sitting for campus placements, applying abroad, or eyeing core tech roles, a B.Tech from LPU opens doors that a BCA

LPU is a pretty good option for BBA honestly. It's NAAC A+ accredited, has decent NIRF rankings, and offers multiple specializations like Business Analytics, Finance, and IT. Placements are solid with 700+ companies visiting campus, and starting salaries typically range from ₹3-6 LPA. Plus being in

For MBA, I would prefer LPU because of its stronger placement support, industry-oriented curriculum, and larger recruiter participation. The MBA programme includes live projects, internships, corporate interactions, and specialisation choices. Students get exposure to industry experts and leadership
