Performance Criteria in Class 12 for IISER Admissions 2025

IISER Tirupati, the exam officials have released the IAT 2025 exam notification and the IISER Entrance Exam 2025 application form will be available for candidates to register from March 10, 2025 onwards. IAT 2025 exam will provide admissions to the five-year BS-MS degree, four-year BS and BTech degree courses at seven IISER institutions, IISc Bangalore and IIT Madras. Interested applicants are advised to check out the minimal eligibility criteria required to appear in the examination.

What if the Class 12 result is not declared, can a candidate apply?

Candidates whose Class XII (or equivalent) examination results have not yet been declared can apply for IAT 2025. However, their admission will be subject to fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria given on the official website.

What happens if the candidate is appearing for Class 12 for the second time?

For candidates who had appeared in the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2024 and reappeared in any subject (for whatever reason) in 2025, the better of two performances will be considered.

What to do if the candidate's Class 11 and 12 results are clubbed together and declared?

If a board gives aggregate marks considering both Class XI and Class XII, then only Class XII (or equivalent) examination marks will be considered. If a board gives aggregate marks considering the results of all three years of a 3-year diploma or courses of equivalent duration, then only the marks scored in the final year will be considered. Similarly, the marks scored in the final two semesters will be considered for boards that follow a semester system.

No, there is no such age limit, but you can not take admission if you passed your school 3 years before the admission date, unless you go through the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced. Students should have qualified in the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced in the year 2022 and should have a rank within 15000 in the common merit list for General and Other Backward Class or in the respective category rank lists General-EWS, Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer, Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, and PwD. What happens if the Board awards only letter grades instead of percentages?

If a board awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the board specifying the equivalent marks and submit it before the deadline for the mark sheet submission. In case the board does not provide such a certificate, the percentage marks will be assessed as follows:

percentage marks = (CGPA or CPI obtained Γ— 100) / PS

where PS is the maximum value of the point scale used by the respective board.
