Factors Affecting IISER 2026 Rankings
IISER rank between 1 to 80 is considered to be a good rank. Students can get admission to IISER Bangalore with this rank. Students with 200+ marks in the IISER entrance exam are to achieve this rank.
Students belonging to the UR category must score above 150 marks in the IAT exam for admission to IISER. For the reversed category, 80+ marks are good for admission. IISER admissions are based on IAT rank. The rank holders have to participate in the IISER admission counselling.
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research will announce the IISER 2026 exam date on the website, iiseradmission.in/. Students can check the IAT exam date to know the schedule of important events like registration, entrance exam date, admit card, result, and more.
There are several factors that can affect the relationship between marks and rank in IISER:
- Individual Score: The score of IISER exam is decided by combining the scores of the A, B and C sections of the exam. This directly affects your rank.
- Number of Applicants: As the number of applicants increases, the same score may not be enough and can affect your IISER 2026 ranking. With more applicants, the competition also increases and even a good score may not be enough.
- Difficulty level: The overall difficulty level of the IISER exam also affects both marks and rank. As the exam becomes tougher, a lesser number of students can score well, which means that your rank may go up even if your score is lower.
- Availability of Seats: The number of seats for different programs in M.Sc. and Integrated M.Sc. programs is also different. If a program has a smaller number of seats, then the competition will be high. This will mean that your rank may go down for a similar score as compared to other programs where more seats are available.
- Category Reservation: Like most exams in India, IISER also provides category reservation. In this case, separate cutoffs will be released, and accordingly, your rank will change.
