UPSC has released the notification for the Combined Geo-Scientist exam 2021. The last date to apply for the exam is October 27. The prelims exam will be conducted on February 21, 2021.

UPSC Geo-Scientist

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released notification for Combined Geo-Scientist exam 2021. Interested candidates need to fill the application form online. The last date for submission of application form is October 27. The pay by cash mode of fee payment will be deactivated on October 26, 2020. The online applications can be withdrawn from November 4 to 10, 2020.

UPSC will conduct a computer based screening test to select candidates for the mains exam on February 21, 2021. The mains exam is scheduled to be conducted on July 17 and 18, 2021. The application fee is Rs 200 and can be paid both online and offline.

UPSC Geo-Scientist Recruitment 2021: Eligibility Criteria

UPSC prescribes the following eligibility criteria for Geo-Scientist recruitment.

  • The age of candidates should be between 21 and 32 years
  • The minimum educational qualification is postgraduation

UPSC Geo-Scientist Recruitment: Number of Vacancies

A total of 40 vacancies will be filled through UPSC CGSE exam. The distribution of vacancies is given below.

UPSC Geo-Scientist Recruitment 2020: Exam Pattern

The exam is divided into three stages: Prelims, Mains and Personality Test/Interview. The exam pattern of each stage is explained below.

Prelims: This stage will be conducted on computer based mode. All questions will be objective type. There will be two papers. The duration of each paper is two hours. Total marks of the exam are 400. There is also negative marking, 1/3 marks will be deducted for wrong answers.

Mains: The Combined Geo-Scientist mains exam will consist of three conventional type paper. The question paper will be set in English only. Total marks for the exam are 600. Each paper will be held for three hours.

The Personality Test/Interview carries 200 Marks

UPSC Geo-Scientist Recruitment 2020: Selection Process

The selection process comprises the three stages. The stage-I is conducted to select candidates for the mains exam. The mains exam is conducted to select candidates for the personality test. The final selection of candidates will be done based on prelims exam, mains exam and personality test.
