CUET PG 2025 General Paper

Recently, NTA has amended the CUET PG 2025 exam pattern, with further changes expected to be announced. The exam officials initiated a step toward standardizing the admission process for postgraduate (PG) programmes across CUET PG participating universities 2025. The committee has examined various aspects of the test, such as its structure, number of papers, duration of test papers, syllabus alignment, and operational logistics.

CUET PG General Paper syllabus for courses like MBA and LLB will be redesigned to cater to skill-based and certain professions based on UG knowledge so that universities can use it for programmes in those areas. NTA has not mentioned the changes made in the General paper syllabus 2025; however, candidates can expect the revised CUET PG general paper syllabus soon on the official website. To gather feedback on these changes, NTA is inviting input from candidates, participating universities, and the University Grants Commission (UGC). Feedback can be submitted through a Google Form within 15 days of this public notice, by December 26, 2024. CUET PG 2025 General Paper to be Revised

Instead of having a domain/subject-specific syllabus, there are a few CUET PG 2025 courses that have general CUET PG syllabi like LLB and MBA courses. The general syllabus comprises:

  • English Comprehension
  • Hindi Comprehension
  • Mathematics/Quantitative Ability
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Data Interpretation

NTA will soon be redesigning the CUET PG General paper syllabus and further amendments will be made and updated soon on the NTA and CUET PG official website.

Q:   Who sets the CUET PG syllabus?
A: 

The CUET PG 2026 examination will be conducted by the National Testing Agency in the various examination centres across the nation a few cities outside India. The syllabus for the CUET PG papers will be set by the exam conducting authority. The subject experts, after taking all the probable suggestions from all the participating universities, will set the syllabus for the PG level entrance exam on the basis of their undergraduate course curriculum.

Q:   Did CUET PG MCA syllabus 2026 change?
A: 

The CUET PG 2026 syllabus for MCA has remained the same as last year. Last year, NTA added some new topics in the CUET PG MCA syllabus for the academic session 2025-2026. There are three major subjects in the CUET PG MCA syllabus, namely, Decision Making and Thinking Skills, Mathematics and Computers. The exam officials added a few more topics in the Computer subject.

The added topics are mentioned below:

  • Computer networks: OSI Model, TCP/IP model, LAN technologies (Ethernet, Token ring), Transmission media – twisted pair, coaxial cables, fibre-optic cables, Flow and error control techniques,
  • Routing algorithms, Congestion control, IP (v4), Application layer protocols (icmp, dns, smtp, pop, ftp, http); Sliding window protocols; Internetworking: Switch /Hub, Bridge, Router, Gateways,
  • Concatenated virtual circuits, Firewalls: Network Security; Cryptography- public key, secret key.
  • Domain Name System (DNS)-Electronic Mail and World Wide Web (WWW). 
  • Database Management System: Data Models, Schemas, and Instances; Three-Schema Architecture and Data Independence; Database Languages and Interfaces; Centralized and Client/Server Architectures for DBMS, Functional Dependencies and Normalization; Algorithms for Query Processing and Optimization; Transaction Processing, Concurrency Control Techniques, Database Recovery Techniques, Object and Object-Relational Databases; Database Security and
    Authorization. Entity-Relationship Diagram, Relational Model - Constraints, Languages, Design, and Programming, Relational Database Schemas, Update Operations and Dealing with Constraint Violations; Relational Algebra and Relational Calculus; Codd Rules.
Q:   Does CUET PG syllabus change every year?
A: 

Changing the syllabus of CUET PG depends upon the examination authority. However, the chances are very less. The applicants of CUET PG can download and check the previous year syllabus of their applied programme in this page itself.

Factors upon which the CUET PG syllabus might change:

  • One of the most important reasons that the CUET PG syllabus might change is dependent upon any changes made under the NEP- New Education Policy by the Ministry of Education.
  • Changes made by UGC, Master of Human Resource Development in the master's degree programme might alter the CUET PG syllabus.
  • NTA (National Testing Agency), the examination conducting body for CUET PG Examination, can change if the exam authorities feel the significance of adding some important topics in the syllabus to ameliorate the holistic approach of the students towards the subject. 
Q:   What kind of topics are covered in the CUET PG Humanities syllabus?
A: 

The specific topics covered vary widely depending on the subject. However, common themes may include:

  • History: Ancient, Medieval, Modern Indian and World History, key historical figures, historical movements, etc.   
  • Sociology: Social structures, institutions, social change, culture, social problems, research methods, etc.   
  • Political Science: Political theory, Indian political system, comparative politics, international relations, etc.   
  • Economics: Microeconomics, macroeconomics, Indian economy, development economics, etc.   
  • Literature: Literary genres, critical analysis, literary movements, authors, and their works.
  • Philosophy: Major philosophical schools of thought, ethical theories, epistemology, metaphysics, etc.

New Changes in CUET PG 2025 Exam

Recently NTA, in compliance with UGC, Union Grant Commission, has introduced recommendations for the CUET PG exam for the academic session 2025. An expert committee has been constituted to review the conduct of the exam. The committee has examined various aspects of the test, such as its structure, number of papers, duration of test papers, syllabus, and operational logistics. 

CUET PG exam is highly competitive for admissions to the masters degree programmes. Last year, a total number of 4 lakh, 62 thousand candidates participated who were administered 7,68,414 tests. Candidates can check out the latest changes introduced by NTA from here:

  • Format: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • Frequency: Once a year
  • Duration: 90 minutes per subject per paper
  • Question Type: Compulsory with negative marking
  • Language: Bilingual
  • Difficulty Level: Similar to CUET PG 2024
  • CUET PG General Question Paper: Redesigned to assess skill-based knowledge relevant to specific professions and UG programmes.

The CUET PG 2026 result has been released at https://exams.nta.nic.in/cuet-pg/. The National Testing Agency released the candidates' scorecard and final answer keys with the result.

MBA students who wish to apply for Goel Group of Institutions scholarships through CUET-PG scores will need to secure a rank of 5000 at best.
