Practising or solving previous year’s papers regularly helps the students in understanding the pattern of the exam and enhancing the speed and accuracy as well during the exam. Learn the important topics and concepts and follow a strict schedule to clear CUCET.
Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) is one of the important national-level exams for getting admission into different undergraduate and postgraduate programs in 14 Central Universities across the country. Students need to prepare diligently to clear this exam. In this article, we will discuss about CUCET exam preparation tips along with the important topics for engineering (UG).
Explore colleges based on CUET
The first and the foremost step important for the preparation process is the knowledge of the complete exam pattern. This would help students in saving time during the exam. The CUCET paper is divided in two parts (Part A & B) and each part has a total of 100 questions. The total marks allocated for CUCET is 100 and the total time duration is two hours. 01 mark would be given for every correct answer and as there is negative marking in this exam, 0.25 marks would be deducted for every incorrect answer.
The details of Part A and Part B are given below:
- Part A consists of 25 questions from topics such as General Knowledge & Aptitude, English, Numerical Aptitude, Reasoning and Data Interpretation
- Part B consists of 75 questions from subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology
Important Topics for CUCET
Physics
Physics is always considered as the difficult subject as compared to others. Thus, the questions of Physics consumes a lot of time in solving. Clear the basic concepts and practise previous years question papers to score high in this subject.
Some of the important topics of Physics are as follows:
- Laws of Motion
- Measurement
- Motion in 1 D & 2 D
- Work, Power and Energy
- Gravitation, Mechanics of Solids
- Thermodynamics and Heat
- Electrostatics
- Magnetic Effect of Current and Current Electricity
- Modern Physics and Optics
Chemistry
Chemistry is considered the easiest and also the scoring subject of CUCET. Hence, students must try to score maximum in this subject. Half of the questions from Chemistry would be based on the theories, so learn all the theories and concepts. Also, try to solve this section in less time and spend the saved time for other sections, if required.
Some of the important topics of Chemistry are as follows:
- Chemical Bonding
- Chemical Equilibrium and Kinetics
- Redox Reactions
- Atomic Structure
- Colligative Properties
- Electrochemistry and Thermochemistry
- Polymers
- Isomerism
- Petroleum
- Catalysis and Solid State
Mathematics
Mathematics could also be a scoring subject like Chemistry. This could easily be achieved by solving questions by doing fast calculations. Hence, work on enhancing speed by practising more questions in short time. Learn and apply short tricks for quick solutions of some questions.
Some of the important topics of Mathematics are as follows:
- Vectors
- Algebra
- Probability
- Coordinate Geometry
- Calculus
- Trigonometry
- Statics and Dynamics
Biology
Try to cover the theoretical part of every chapter to score high in Biology. The time taken in attempting questions from Biology is comparatively lesser.
Some of the important topics of Biology are as follows:
- Organic Evolution and its Mechanism
- Origin of Life, Genetics
- Animal Physiology
- Applied Biology
- Ecology & Ecosystem
- Plant Cell
- Photosynthesis
- Protoplasm
- Anatomy of Root, Stem and Leaf and Soil
English
English is considered easier than other subjects in CUCET, so try to save time while attempting this section. The students must focus on scoring maximum marks in English. Practise mock tests to score well in this exam.
