RIE CEE 2026: The National Council of Educational Research and Training conducts the common entrance exam for all regional institutes of education. The CEE is held for three groups, where A is for BSc BEd, BA BEd, and MSc BEd. Under Group B, BEd, BEd-MEd, and MA Education Technology are offered, whereas MEd is under Group C.

The RIE CEE Exam for the 2026 session is expected to be conducted in July 2026. Candidates must fill out the RIE CEE 2026 Application Form (to be released in April) before the last date if they wish to appear for the exam. RIE CEE exam will be conducted for 2 hours and will check the candidate's proficiency in Teaching Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and Language. The total marks will be 160.

BSc BEd

  • For Physical Science Group admission, you must have passed with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, where M could be Mathematics or Statistics
  • Biological Science Group admission, must have cleared with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, where B could be Biology or Biotechnology; at +2 level.

Candidates must have passed +2 / Hr. Sec./ Sr. Sec. or any equivalent examination recognized by University/ Board with at least 50% marks in overall aggregate of qualifying examination. There is a relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ ST/ PwD. The qualifying examination should be recognized by the affiliating universities of the RIEs.

Candidates who have passed +2/Hr. Sec./Sr. Sec. or any equivalent examination in 2024, 2025 and appearing/ appeared in 2026 only will be considered

BA BEd

Candidates must have passed +2/ Hr. Secondary/ Sr. Secondary or equivalent examination in Science and Commerce streams or in Arts streams with at least 50% marks in aggregate (relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates) in 2024, 2025, and appearing/appeared in 2026 only will be considered. 

MSc Ed

Candidates seeking admission to MSc Ed. (Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics) must have passed with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) (M stands for Mathematics or Statistics) at +2 level.

Candidates must have passed +2 / Hr. Sec./ Sr. Sec. or any equivalent examination recognized by the University/ Board with at least 50% marks in aggregate of qualifying examination (relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates). The qualifying examination should be recognized by the affiliating university of RIE, Mysuru (University of Mysore).

Candidates who have passed +2 / Hr. Sec./ Sr. Sec. or any equivalent examination in 2024, 2025, and appearing/ appeared in 2026 only will be considered.

Integrated BEd MEd (3 Year)

A postgraduate degree in Science / Social Science / Humanities from a recognized Institute with a minimum 55 % marks or equivalent grade (relaxation by 5% for SC/ST/PwD Candidates).

MEd (2 Year)

If you wish to get admission in the MEd programme should have obtained at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade (relaxation by 5% for SC/ ST/ PwD Candidates) in the following programmes.

RIE CEE Answer Key 2026

NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) releases the provisional answer key a few days after the RIE CEE exam. The objection window is opened for all the candidates who have appeared in the Computer-Based Test. Candidates who have appeared for the exam can download the RIE CEE Answer Key using their credentials and register their objections (if any). On non-receipt of objections within the stipulated period, candidates will not have any right or any claim for re-evaluation at a later stage of the selection/admission process.  Once all the objections are verified, the conducting body releases the final answer key.

RIE CEE 2026 Counselling and Reservation Policy

RIE CEE counselling is conducted within a week or two after the result declaration. Every regional institute of education releases its separate schedule for the counselling of the offered courses. The notices carrying the shortlisted and waitlisted candidates' names are updated on the website. It is important for a candidate to report with all the required documents on the given date; otherwise, they might get disqualified from the counselling round. 

Documents Required for the RIE CEE Counselling

Listed below are the important documents. 

  • Printout of the Application form and Score card/ result sheet of CEE 2026
  • Original Marks cards of Class X and XII classes
  • Domicile Certificate / Residential Certificate C
  • Caste Certificate issued by the Competent Authority from the Domicile State (in case of SC/ST students).
  • ОВС Сertificate (Non-Creamy layer) Current Financial Year in the Government of India Format (if applicable)
  • EWS Certificate (Current Financial Year) in Government of India Format (if applicable)
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Conduct Certificate
  • Migration Certificate for students from states other than Karnataka state
  • PWD Certificate from the Competent Authority (if applicable)
  • Parental Income Certificate (if applicable)
  • Passport size photograph - 6 no.

The institute may ask the candidate to bring other documents, including documents at the time of counselling.

RIE CEE Exam Reservation Policy

As per the Government of India rules, candidates belonging to certain categories are admitted to seats reserved for them based on relaxed criteria. The following reservations are available:

  • SC 15%
  • ST 7.5%
  • OBC 27%
  • PwD 5%
  • EWS 10%.

Candidates applying under the reservation quota will be considered only based on the lists notified by the Government of India and the category certificate/ PwD certificate in the format approved by the Government of India and issued by the competent authority. OBC candidates will have to attach a certificate from a competent authority stating that he/she does not belong to the Creamy Layer.

  • The reservation for EWS will be as per the Government of India norms.
  • For the reservation of Hyderabad-Karnataka under the Karnataka reservation quota, data will be captured and provided to RIE, Mysuru for processing at their end.
  • RIEs will provide one seat for each course BSc BEd, and BA BEd. (RIE, Mysuru will also provide one seat for each programme of MScEd. i.e., Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) And RIE, Bhopal will also provide one seat in BEd-MEd. over and above of their regular quota for NTSE awardees and Tibetan candidates. However, candidates from this category need to appear in the CEE 2026.

Q:   What if I miss my counselling date?
A: 

It is not advised for any candidate to miss the counselling date. It can result in losing the seat as well as the admission. You can confirm with the respective RIE if you can attend the next round of counselling or any other available solution.

Q:   When will the RIE CEE counselling process start?
A: 

RIE CEE counselling started after the result announcement on August 30 for Group C. After the Group A result, declared on September 5, and Group C on September 11, the other programs' counselling also started. The provisional list is being uploaded to the respective website. The candidate must report to the respective campus within the given timeline.

Q:   What to do after rie cee result?
A: 

After the result, the merit and provisional list for qualified is released within a week or two of the declaration. Candidates need to report to the allotted centre with documents and fees.

RIE, Bhubaneswar: BA BEd, BSc BEd (PCM and CBZ Group), BEd and MEd

Only from the states/UTs of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli are eligible. For the BEd-MEd course, the candidates from all states and UTs are eligible

RIE, Mysuru: BA BEd, BSc BEd (PCM and CBZ Group), MScEd. (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics), BEd, and MEd

  • Only from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and the UTs of Puducherry and Lakshadweep are eligible.
  • For MScEd. (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) from all States and UTs can apply.

NERIE, Shillong: BEd

For the BEd programme at NERIE, Shillong, only the candidates from the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura are eligible.

RIE, Nellore: MA(Education Technology)

For the MA (Education Technology) programme, the candidates from all states and UTs are eligible.

SIASTE, Haryana: BA BEd and BSc BEd

For BA BEd, BSc BEd programmes, the candidates from all states and UTs can apply.
