Preparing for JEE? Here’s What is Important To Know

Among all career options, engineering has traditionally been one of the most established career options in India for several years, especially amongst non-medical students. Although some career trends come and go over time, engineering evolves, adapts and remains relevant from generation to generation. This is because engineering continues to keep up with advances in technology, the economy and industry, and these are the factors that provide a strong return even in uncertain times.

Historically, engineering education was based on four core branches: Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Chemical Engineering, which made up the foundation of infrastructure development, manufacturing and technology in India. However, with the evolution of industries and accelerating rates of innovation and technology, the fields of engineering are no longer limited to the foundation of the four traditional branches. The focus of engineering education has now shifted from a primary focus of obtaining an engineering degree to the development of role-based skills, experience in interdisciplinary learning and hands-on experience in an industrial setting.

These changes have led to a major restructuring of engineering education. Many institutions like the IIT's and NIT's have retained their traditional means of teaching, but many of the newer universities have developed a way to bridge the gap between academic training and the requirements of learners in an industrial environment by providing a plethora of specialised courses to become skilled engineers.

Chandigarh University, VIT University, and SRM Institute of Science and Technology are now providing training for the future in the roles of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, and Industry Collaborated Engineering.

We can also see that engineering is no longer an isolated career based on passing a single test or graduating from one institution. Rather, it is about creating individuals with a set of skills and abilities that cross multiple disciplines and create efficiency; the students who take advantage of these new opportunities will be able to create greater efficiencies.

If Students are Looking Beyond IITs & NITs, Here’s One Option Many JEE Aspirants Consider

This is the reason that many students are turning to universities such as Chandigarh University for their education (alongside many of them hoping to enter an IIT or NIT). While IITs and NITs continue to be the ultimate goal for all students, the reality is that even very well-qualified students and those who are well-prepared may not be able to find their way to an IIT or NIT seat because of the fierce competition.

So for those deserving students, the most important decision becomes finding the next best option. Finding that option should not be about "settling", but rather selecting the option that has a solid combination of outstanding academic performance, access to industry during their undergraduate studies, relevant specialisations, and future opportunities for growth. Chandigarh University has a diverse offering of undergraduate engineering programs that merge the theory and principles of traditional engineering with the most advanced technologies available today.

The decision rests solely with the student. They do not have to follow a traditional pathway with little or no connection to the current job market, and therefore will be able to pursue a career that has both a strong alignment with what is considered current for the industry and is equipped for the future regarding jobs.

Undergraduate Engineering Programs Offered

Students can choose from both traditional and emerging engineering domains, including:

  • BE.  Aerospace Engineering
  • BE. Automobile Engineering
  • BE. Biotechnology Engineering
  • BE. Chemical Engineering
  • BE. Civil Engineering
  • BE. Electrical Engineering
  • BE. Mechanical Engineering
  • BE. Mechatronics Engineering
  • BE. Food Technology
  • BE. Computer Science & Engineering
  • BE. Information Technology
  • BE. Electronics and Communication Engineering
  • BE. CSE (Full Stack Development)
  • BE. CSE (Artificial Intelligence) in collaboration with Microsoft
  • BE. CSE (Computer Science and Business Systems) in association with TCS
  • BE. CSE (Data Science) in association with IBM
  • BE. CSE (Cloud Computing) in association with IBM
  • BE. CSE (Cyber Security) in association with IBM
  • BE. CSE with Specialisation in AI & Machine Learning (IBM)
  • BE. CSE with Specialisation in IoT & Artificial Intelligence

This vast array of programs allows students the opportunity to begin building expertise in their niche areas at an early stage, rather than waiting for postgraduate studies or becoming stuck switching paths later in their careers.

How students' JEE Rank Can Still Make a Difference

For students appearing in JEE Main 2026, Chandigarh University offers merit-based scholarships linked directly to All India Rank (AIR). By doing this, the effort and preparedness are recognised even beyond the top few thousand ranks.

For engineering programs, scholarships are awarded as follows (limited to a maximum of 5% of total intake seats per program):

  1. Up to AIR 25,000 – 100% semester fee scholarship
  2. AIR 25,001 to 50,000 – 75% semester fee scholarship
  3. AIR 50,001 to 75,000 – 50% semester fee scholarship
  4. AIR 75,001 to 1,00,000 – 20% semester fee scholarship
  5. AIR 1,00,001 to 1,25,000 – 10% semester fee scholarship

Such scholarships not only ease financial burden but also serve as an encouragement to those students who have spent months or years in preparation with a lot of discipline.

Going Into January with Confidence

With the advent of JEE, it is natural to feel charged with pressure. Expectations from oneself, family, and peers start feeling like a burden. But remember that one exam does not define your intelligence, potential, or future success.

Give the exam your best shot. Put all your heart and soul into the preparation. Strategic revision is a must. Walk into the exam hall, knowing your effort mattered. Once the exam is over, keep everything open. Engineering is a long road on which success involves keeping oneself in learning mode, adapting, and applying one's skills rather than absolute reliance on one outcome.

When preparation meets astute planning, every outcome becomes a stepping stone. The one rank does not dictate your engineering journey; everything after that contributes to shaping it.

Hi...

Placement is almost good.

Placement Rate

Around 74–75% students get placed (B.Pharm)

Some students also go for higher studies (M.Pharm, MBA, etc.)

For B.Pharm at Chandigarh University:

Minimum: 50% (eligibility)

Safe score: 70%+

Very safe: 75–85%+

60–65% → borderline but possible

70%+ → good chance

80%+ → easy admission + scholarship chances
