The dress code for JEE Main 2026 prohibits shoes with thick soles and clothing featuring large buttons. JEE Mains 2026 Dress Code

Check below the JEE Mains dress code for both male and female candidates. Note that NTA does not mention any specific dress code for male and female students separately. However, based on the feedback of students at the exam centre, we have compiled here some common dress code-related guidelines that are ideal for the JEE Mains exam day. Students must follow the dress code to ensure that there are no issues during frisking and security checks.

JEE Main Dress Code 2026 for Girls

The following table lays out the specific guidelines for JEE Main 2026 dress code for females.  The female candidates have to look out for the following:

What to Avoid

Opt for simple tops with light-weight fabric.

Try to avoid the following kinds of clothing at the JEE centres:

Plain jeans (without metallic studs or chains), simple trousers, or leggings/jeggings are allowed.

Do not wear clothes with metallic zippers, large decorative buttons, or metal-threaded embroidery.

Choose garments made of lightweight fabrics

Caps, hats, stoles, and scarves should be avoided inside the centre. Follow the instructions by the centre invigilators.

Wear simple slippers or open flat sandals.

Strictly avoid all jewellery, including rings, bracelets, watches (digital or analogue) and neck chains

 

Avoid underwired bras, as they might cause problems during frisking

Candidates can check the allotted JEE Mains 2026 exam date on their JEE admit card and also on the city intimation slip.

Q:   What documents are required to participate in JEE Main counselling?

To participate in the JEE Main counselling, candidates will need to upload the following documents at the time of JoSAA registration. Class 10 mark sheet/certificate, Class 12 Certificate of category (if applicable), PwD Certificate (if applicable). After the seat allotment, while reporting to the institute, candidates will also need to submit documents like JoSAA seat allotment letter, JEE Main/Advanced admit card, Gap Certificate (if gap after class 12).

A good score in JEE Main 2026 will be the score that either qualifies you for JEE Advanced or for admission to NIT/IIIT/GFTI of your choice.

Q:   Is it enough to learn from NCERT textbook to clear JEE Main 2026?

While NCERT books are good to begin the JEE Mains preparation, students should not study only NCERT. As JEE Mains exam is known to test candidates conceptual and analytical skills, and to have all the knowledge that would help in achieving a good score, candidates must also refer other study materials as recommended by teachers to prepae for the exam.

Q:   Is it mandatory to carry printout of JEE Main hall ticket to the exam centre?
A: 

Yes, it is mandatory to carry a print copy of the JEE Mains admit card. Soft copy on the mobile phone is not valid for entry at exam.

  • Ensure you reach the JEE Main test centre at least an hour before the reporting time mentioned in your JEE Main 2026 admit card. Candidates have to undergo various mandatory processes, thus reaching on time is important.
  • Write your name and roll number at the top of the rough sheets and return them before leaving the exam hall.
  • Enter your required details in the attendance sheet in legible handwriting, put your signature, Left Hand Thumb Impression and paste the Photograph at the appropriate place. The Left-Hand Thumb Impression is clear and not smudged.
  • Do not carry any prohibited items such as notes, electronics, calculators and more.

  • Candidates cannot use the JEE Main city slip 2026 for entry at the exam centre. Only the admit card can be used to enter the centre and for verification.
  • The National Testing Agency,  in no case, will issue duplicate JEE Main admit cards at test centres

No, Shetty Institute of Technology does not accept JEE Main. Students do not have to submit JEE scores. Instead, students need to appear for the CET exam. The institute may accept other tests for management quota admissions.
