It is a college that is very rooted in discipline. It's a bittersweet experience with challenges.
Placements: An undergraduate course in Physics is typically not job-oriented. Majority of the pass-out students have secured positions for M.Sc. or Ph.D. in IITs, IISERs, and other institutes. Some of them have also secured higher study offers from France and other countries. It must be noted that our last passout batch was a non-NEP batch and typically completed honours within 3 years.
Infrastructure: Classrooms and library are 5 stars. But undergraduate labs are 1 star. So total 3 stars, the weighted average. We have filed a petition to change the outdated, ineffective lab equipments but still no action. We are optimistic that there will be reforms soon. Post NEP, lots of changes are being made. So, we expect changes in these too.
Faculty: Majority of the faculty members are approachable and helpful. But, some of them are pretty sack and simply read out from notes and slides without any explanation. They answer doubts in a vague way. The curriculum on pen and paper is good but the parts taught by these teachers are not understandable. But again if we put in efforts from our side to learn we can make out much of it. The course curriculum is relevant to Physics academia and industry. The course, along with its minor in CS or chemistry offers leverage in other industries as well.

St. Xavier's College Kolkata- An abode of knowledge.
Placements: The placement cell of the college works around the clock to ensure that students can avail themselves of jobs that nurture them and push them to the best version of themselves. Mathematics and statistics are some of the highest placed branches, with people landing jobs in consulting, teaching, research positions, grants and other brilliant opportunities.
Infrastructure: While I am not a hosteller, I can say that the college infrastructure is second to None. We have all-day Wi-Fi, good food in canteens, a TV room, a ground, and a basketball court. The laboratories are big and well-equipped. All in all, the college environment fosters both academic merit and co-curricular activities.
Faculty: The faculty in St. Xavier's College Kolkata, is excellent and well-qualified, often of good academic/professional repute. Most professors are extremely motivating and welcoming, allowing us to pick their brains whenever we spot them in the canteen. The examinations are competitive and definitely not easy to score well in, but the class coverage and the post-test feedback provide a huge drive in the learning journey.

Satisfied with college. However, extremely strict discipline makes campus life very school-like.
Placements: About 70% students were placed. The highest package is 15 LPA. Average package is 10 LPA, and lowest package is 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Deloitte, PwC, ICICI, TCS, and EY. 90% of second and third year students secured an internship. Data-centric or Data analytics-based roles.
Infrastructure: The popular green bench area is Wi-Fi enabled. 3 computer labs, 1 smart lab, 1 high-performance data Science lab, and 1 finance lab are at disposal for use by Statistics students of this college. Two fully equipped air-conditioned audio-visual rooms with an accommodation capacity of approximately 70 students each are available for Statistics classes. Central library (the general purpose library) and Goethals library (the historic volumes). Hostel contains a variety of rooms and is equipped with a hygienic mess. Department of Sports offers several sporting options and maintains respective college teams.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful, well-qualified, and definitely knowledgeable. Teaching quality is high enough for the students to understand the concepts in depth. Course curriculum is totally industry relevant, and the supporting projects and assignments help the students become acquainted with the needs of the real world. Semester exams are of standard difficulty, enough to test the readiness of the students as per the syllabus of that particular semester. Across the entire course, the pass rate averages approximately 40%.

My experience at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata.
Placements: The percentage of students placed in M.Sc. courses is generally high, with an average CTC of 10 LPA, more or less, though it differs from course to course. In M.Sc. in Data Science, one can expect a CTC as high as 25-30 LPA, whereas most of the time, B.Sc. students don't sit in a placement drive. If you sit, you can expect 3-10 LPA, more or less. The placement cell is very effective in helping you find all kinds of jobs and internships.
Infrastructure: There is free Wi-Fi for students, and the library system is quite excellent, with a good number of books and access to numerous important websites and newspapers like the Hindu online paper. The hostel facility is good as far as I heard, because I am a local student, so I don't use the hostel. Most of the classrooms are equipped with AC, and there are labs to hold practical classes.
Faculty: The faculty is quite experienced and always helpful. The course curriculum is well planned as per the NEP. Sometimes you can feel difficulty in understanding the classes, though the professors help if you ask. Exams are conducted in a 2 month difference, and there are two exams in each semester, that is, end semester exam and the mid-semester exam. The questions generally come from the syllabus and what is taught in class.
Other: As you know, I guess St Xavier's hosts the biggest fest among all colleges of Kolkata, i.e., Xavotsav, which happens on a very big scale and is always very fun. Not only that, there are several societies in college based on cultural, science, business, etc. Feel free to join, you will definitely enjoy it. As far as the course is concerned, I have a batch strength of 58, where the highest SGPA is 10. So, you can get marks if you study at least a B.Sc. in Statistics.

SCC - Strong academics with limited practical exposure.
Placements: We do not have a very good placement cell with offers, just one company I think, that is also very randomly done. Only 4 students from my class of 56 got it I think. Even they are not very interested. The interview process is not very well done.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are good. We have AC rooms and good computer labs. Even the library has many books available. I did not use the hostel service but from what I heard from friends is that it is decent and average. The canteen is not very good as they have very limited options.
Faculty: Teachers are incredible. The course is relevant and difficult but interesting makes learning fun. Faculty members vary with some professors being highly knowledgeable and supportive, while others following rigid teaching techniques which did make their class not very fun.
Other: I chose economics because I enjoy studying it. It is very analytical, uses logic, and is interesting. We had our departmental fest Econverge.

Be a Xaverian, Be an achiever.
Placements: (1) Around 89 percent. (2) 1.2 crores, 12 Lacs, and 25 Lacs p.a. (3) Not companies but colleges - Calcutta University, IITs, Bose Institutes, IISERs. (4) 100 percent in the above-mentioned colleges + ISRO. (5) Researcher, practical helping teacher, teacher.
Infrastructure: (1) College Wi-Fi is available, and neat, clean classrooms with projectors, 4 libraries with the best control, and labs for every topic and every course. Friendly assistant teachers for help. (2) Good quality food, TT room present, a large infirmary room, all sports equipment present, and competitions held.
Faculty: (1) Teachers are highly qualified with PhDs from colleges across the globe. Always very eager to help and also very welcoming of doubts. Above all, they are able to convey knowledge to students. (2) Our college was one of the first colleges to adapt to NEP. The lecture plan is made in such a way that students find it easy to study and revise on time. Yes, it also makes students industry-ready due to its exposure to daily activities. (3) Semester exams are a little above average; however, due to excellent teaching, the pass percentage is around 94 percent.
Other: (1) Very logical and reasonable subject with a bright scope in future endeavors. (2) Nothing more, everything is perfect. (3) Xavotsav - a famous event. Every department conducts a yearly fest along with the societies, so the campus is filled with events all year round. Good connectivity as it is in the heart of Kolkata. The campus is quite green with many people, sometimes making it feel like a school. Different clubs and societies promote extracurricular activities like dance, music, acting, drama, etc.
