While 20% of the total seats for BTech are reserved for students who have passed the JEE Main exam (provided that have the official PRC of the state), the remaining 80% of the seats are filled via the pass out students of Assam CEE. Furthermore, students also have an option to secure lateral entry admission directly to the second year of the BTech course. Admission to BTech Lateral Entry courses is subject to a valid score in JLEE Assam exam.

The total tuition fees of Guwahati University BTech ranges between INR 33,000- INR 66,000. Candidates are required to pay the course fee after completion of all the selection rounds to confirm their seats. If an applicant fails to make the required payment within the allotted time, their admission will be revoked. Aspirants will also need to pay a registration fee to apply for NIMS University admission.

Among Gauhati University or Tezpur University, candidates looking forward to the scope of getting a higher median salary can prefer Gauhati University while if we look at the university from the perspective of total tuition fee, the fee for BTech at Tezpur University is comparatively low. Gauhati University offers BTech in multiple specialisations. BTech admission at Gauhati University is entrance-based, subject to fulfilment of the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria require the applicants to have passed Class 12 with an aggregate of at least 50%, with PCM and English as compulsory subjects. The minimum aggregate required for the SC and ST categories in Class 12 is 45% and 40%, respectively. Only candidates scoring over the minimum aggregate required for their category can apply for admission at the university for BTech. Other candidates can explore other college and universities offering offline and online BTech courses.

The modes of Gauhati University course admissions are online and offline. Admission to various courses is based on merit and entrance exam scores. The cut off changes every year. Hence, the students must visit the official website of the university and check the updated cut off. In general, the basic eligibility criteria involves passing Class 12 with a minimum of 40% to 55% aggregate (depending on the selected course). For postgraduate courses, the basic eligibility criteria involves pass in bachelor's course with a minimum of 45%-60% aggregate (depending on the selected course). The accepted entrance exams are MAT,  CMAT,  CAT,  CMAT, and others.
