For the majority of UG courses from the streams of Science, Commerce, Humanities, Management and Law, the university conducts an in-house entrance exam, i.e., HITSCAT. For BTech course, students can apply via HISEEE, which is also an in-house entrance exam of Hindustan University. The total fee for HITS Chennai is cumulative of several components, such as tuition fees, caution money, hostel fees, insurance, etc. Students have to pay the admission fees after the final selection. Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) has a multi-step admission process which students need to follow to get into the university. Starting with the application, students are required to go through the entrance exam followed by selection rounds and lastly confirmation of admission. After the selection rounds are over, course-wise merit lists are released on the official website of the university. Interested candidates can submit the fee and confirm their admission. Additionally, Admission to all the programmes is based on the entrance exam. To get direct admission to the BSc course of Hindustan University, students must pass the minimum eligibility and selection criteria. Admission to BSc course is based on the HITSCAT entrance exam. This exam is a mandatory step of the selection process that is proposed by the university.

Hindustan University offers a three-year LLB course as a professional program. This course is approved by the Bar Council through the School of Law. At Hindustan University, students get to learn the fundamentals of Law with real-time situations and practical implementations. At the UG level, Hindustan University offers a four-year BTech course across 15 specialisations, including two specialisations, which are offered in collaboration with IBM. These specialisations are Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Information Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, CSE (in collaboration with IBM), etc. These specialisations are further divided into multiple sub-specialisations.

HITS Chennai BTech admission process shall commence with the release of HITSEEE application. The application form has to be submitted before the deadline. HITSEEE application form is expected to be released in Dec of every year, and the application window will remain open till Apr. Moreover, the entrance exam will be conducted in May 2026.

HITS admit candidates to its BTech courses through HITSEEE counselling. However, it may grant admission through TNEA counselling as well. In 2024, the TNEA last round closing rank was 19791 for BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. It is for the candidates belonging to general All-India category candidates.
