The GATE 2026 exam for admission to ME/MTech/PhD courses will be conducted on Feb 7, Feb 8, Feb 14, and Feb 15, 2026.
A few more updates are given below:
- The JEE Advanced 2026 application form is expected to be released in April 2026, and the examination will be conducted on May 17, 2026.
- The JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam for IIT Bombay admission to BTech, BArch, and BPlan courses will tentatively be conducted between Jan 21 and Jan 30, 2026.
- The UCEED 2026 entrance exam for the B.Des programme is scheduled for Jan 18, 2026, and the results will be declared on Mar 6, 2026.
- The IIT JAM 2026 exam date for admission to the MSc course is Feb 15, 2026.

IIT Bombay is one of the top Engineering institute in the country. It is ranked by various bodies. National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has ranked IIT Bombay, #3 in the "Engineering" category. BTech is the flagship programme of the institute. Students holding Bachelor's degree with 60 percent marks (55 percent for reserved category) are eligible to apply. Eligible students should visit the IIT Bombay website to fill the application form. The selection is through GATE or MAAT exam followed by an interview round.
Candidates holding a bachelor’s degree (BA/ BCom or other degrees) or a four-year BA, BS, BTech or an earlier postgraduate degrees such as MA, MSc, etc. with a minimum of 60% aggregate for GN/ EWS/ OBC (NC) and 55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD can apply for MA by Research. Aspirants shall keep the documents for verification ready at the time of admission as well.

IIT Bombay offers BTech course in different specialisations and as an integrated programme. Its fee structure is cumulative of various components, such as tuition fees, caution money, and more. Students who get a seat allocated in the counselling have to pay the required fee amount. IIT Bombay BTech tuition fees range from INR 8 Lacs to INR 10 lakh. This range is inclusive of tuition fees for the integrated programme.

Candidates applying for BDes course at IIT Bombay have to pay a non-refundable application. There is fee concession for reserved category aspirants. Below is IIT Bombay BDes application fee:

The total tuition fee for IIT Bombay MDes is INR 1 Lacs as per an unofficial source. Students belonging to SC/ ST/ PwD category or a child of institution staff are exempted from paying the tuition fee. There is a concessional and a non-concessional fee for candidates belonging to General/ EWS/ OBC-NCL category. The concessional is offered on tuition fee. Candidates apart from the tuition fee are required to pay examination fee, medical fee, etc. Students not staying in hostel are exempted from the payment of hostel fee.
Apart from the course fee, candidates also have to pay a registration fee of INR 300 for General/ OBC Male and INR 150 for SC/ ST/ PwD and female candidates.

GATE results will be accepted by IIT Bombay for admission to the M.Tech programme. Candidates aiming for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) need to meet these cutoff marks in JEE Mains to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2026.
IIT Bombay admission to all the courses is entrance-based (Except for EMBA, where admission is merit-based and performance in the interview round). The IIT Bombay admission process includes the application process, selection round, cutoff, merit list or counselling and other steps. For BTech, candidates have to clear JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Further for other courses such as MTech, MBA, MSc, BDes, and MDes, aspirants need to clear GATE, CAT, IITJAM, UCEED, and CEED, respectively to qualify for further admission rounds.
Yes, GATE score is required to get admission to IIT Bombay course. However, aspirants who have not qualified GATE can also get admission based on written test conducted by the institute.
