The difficulty level of JMI entrance exam syllabus depends on the course. the JMI syllabus difficulty level for UG courses is moderate as most of the topics are related to Class 12 topics. Similarly, the PG course syllabus is based on undergraduate syllabus. Students have to focus more on Current Affairs, as it is neither in Class 12 nor in UG.

Candidates who wish to pursue Mass Media course at Jamia Millia Islamia will have to participate in the interview round of 15-20 minutes. The interview usually includes questions based on following topics:

The aim of the written test of JMI Entrance Exam for M.A. Mass Communication subject is to test the knowledge and aptitude of the candidate and to ascertain the fact that the applicant is suitable for the course. The question paper of Mass Communication subject is divided into two parts. Part A is based on multiple choice questions and Part B is based on descriptive questions.

In Part A, questions related to national and international political issues/personalities, General Knowledge, Film, Television and other media and Art, Literature and culture are asked. The syllabus of entrance exams like JMI, CUET UG, and others for BA Hons History course revolves around the Current Affairs, Social Science, World History, Indian History, General Knowledge and General Sciences. The braoad division of the questions for the examination is given below: Indian History: 50% World History: 10% Current Affairs: 10% General Knowledge: 10% General Sciences: 10% Social Science: 10% (Other than History) 100 Multiple Choice Questions are asked from the topics mentioned above. Jamia Millia Islamia's mass communication courses are taught at AJK MCRC or AJK Mass Communication Research Centre. To apply for these courses, aspirants must take the JMI Entrance Exam. It's a three hour long test. This is followed by an interview round. Candidates also have to showcase their portfolios. It must be noted that only postgraduate mass communication courses are offered at AJK MCRC.
