NIT Durgapur admissions for MTech is based on GATE score. The institute offers seats under Sponsored and Self-Sponsored Category. After qualifying GATE, candidates are required to come for CCMT Counselling. GATE cutoffs are released online, aspirants with score equal or above cutoff, become eligible for counselling. Aspirants need to register for CCMT Counselling to become eligible for seat allotment. Selected candidates are required to confirm their seat by paying the course fee.

Students wishing to apply for hostel have to pay an additional amount. NIT Durgapur does have mess service for which students need to pay a separate charge. The hostel fee for M.Tech students is INR 36,600. Students also have to pay a caution money for hostel service. Apart from the hostel charges, the tuition fee for M.Tech is INR 1.40 lakh. Additionally, the top recruiters of NIT Durgapur in 2023 included Microsoft, Steradian, Morgan Stanley, Caterpillar, etc. As per the latest media reports, Microsoft offered the highest package so far which stood at INR 51 LPA.
