A short review of the Department of Linguistics, North Eastern Hill University Shillong .

Placements: A total number of 45 students were placed in my course but a few ended up dropping out in the first semester due to personal reasons. We are not offered any packages and none of us is going for internships either. But from time to time, we get opportunities to work with researchers.

Infrastructure: The department has enough classrooms in the department therefore we do not need to use the cluster classroom much. We also have a conference hall and a computer lab in the department. The classroom also has a projector to be used during classes. The department has enough faculty, both teaching and non-teaching staff.

Faculty: The course needs to be updated but the teachers are well qualified and are indeed very good teachers with a very good attitude. The course curriculum is relevant and introduces us to all the things we do in our field. The semester exams are not too difficult and the pass percentage varies but a good number of students pass every semester.

Other: The student body on the campus organizes Varsity Fests annually, engaging students in different activities. The university also provides scholarships for students with financial difficulties.

The facilities at NEHU are generally well maintained and cater to diverse needs of the students.

Placements: Generally the percentage of placed students is between 60 to 90 percent depending on the course and the batch. The highest, the lowest, and average packages are INR 12-15 LPA, INR 2-3 LPA, and INR 4-6 LPA respectively. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Deloitte, HDFC Bank, etc. Percentage of students with internships is around 70 to 80% in professional courses. Top roles offered were that of software developer, analyst, consultant, marketing executive, financial analyst, research associate, etc.

Infrastructure: NEHU offers Wi-Fi connectivity across its campus, including academic buildings and hostels. This enables the students to access online resources and stay connected for academic purposes. Various departments are equipped with state of the art laboratories. Placements: The placement is good in the college; this course placement is also good. However, day by day, a lot of improvement is being made by the college. The students are placed, but in the other course, placement is better. In this course, the placement percentage is 70%, and the highest package offered is 5 LPA, while the lowest is 2 LPA, and the average is 3.5 LPA.

Infrastructure: In the college, the infrastructure is good. There are common amenities like AC and Wi-Fi available, and there is a well-equipped central library. The hostel and the classrooms are neat and clean. The quality of food is decent, and there are medical supports and sports available.

The curriculum is very well-organized.

Placements: In the course, the placement is good, but there is a lot better in the future. In the other course, the placement cell is active and this course is a little bit off. The highest package offered in the course is 5 LPA, the lowest 1.2 LPA, and the average 2 LPA, and some students also get internship opportunities.

Infrastructure: In the college, the infrastructure is really nice. There is a really beautiful green campus, a big ground and garden, and a central library available. There is Wi-Fi and AC available, and the hostel facility is good, and the quality of food is decent, and there are medical supports and sports available.
