 For a few courses, such as MA, BA, MLib, etc., admissions are completely based on merit in the last qualifying examination. Students must go through the Panjab University CHD-conducted/ national-level entrances and then appear for the university-level selection rounds for final admission at Panjab University.

Over the past three years of drives, an improving trend was observed in the LLB placement percentage. On the contrary, a declining trend was observed in the LLM placement rate. Refer to the below table for the Department of Law Panjab University placement rate trends:

The highest package offered to the Engineering batch 2025 was INR 24 LPA. On the other hand, the highest salary offered to the MBA students during Punjab University placements 2025 was also INR 24 LPA.  

The University has released the NIRF report 2023 that incorporates the 2022 placement data for Law courses (including the Department and affiliated institutes). The key highlights of UILS Chandigarh placements 2022 are tabulated below for reference:

More than 100 companies took part in the Punjab University UIET placements 2025 and offered 356 job offers to the students. Some of the top recruiters include Samsung, Infosys, KPMG, Deloitte, Adobe, etc.

No other major university in the region is allowing students to pursue two academic programmes simultaneously so far and it is said that PU may be the first one to do so. The guidelines were issued in line with the objectives envisaged by the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) The guidelines were issued to allow students to pursue two academic programmes simultaneously in line with the objectives envisaged by the National Education Policy (NEP-2020). However, the guidelines are applicable only to the students pursuing academic programmes other than Ph.D. programmes. Based on the guidelines, the universities can devise mechanisms through their statutory bodies for allowing their students to pursue two academic programmes simultaneously the UGC has said while notifying the guidelines.

Studies in Panjab University are at par with the leading Educational Institutes in our country. It was even the highest ranked Indian Institute for a while according to a survey by Times Higher education. Should have passed FA/F.Sc./ A level or equivalent examination with a minimum of 55% marks. Should have passed the Law Admission Test (LAT) with 50% passing marks and with a validity date for admission. Must have appeared in the PU Admission Test conducted by Punjab University. To be eligible for the three-year PU LLB course, a candidate must have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognised university with at least 45% aggregate marks or 40% marks for SC/ST candidates.
