SASTRA University Course Admissions 2026: Application Form, Last Date, Eligibility

SASTRA University provides various programmes and specialisations to students. These courses are available in different streams. For obtaining SASTRA University admission, candidates are selected on the basis of entrance tests. There is no such provision for getting direct admission in any courses at SASTRA University. SASTRA University admission is both a merit and entrance exam based on the course for which the candidate has applied. Given below are the eligibility and selection criteria for some of the most opted courses at SASTRA University.

Selected candidates can register further for the counselling process after submitting the counselling fees; during this round, candidates will be required to report to the admission cell at SASTRA University for document verification and other admission formalities along with fee payment.

The students who want to get admission into the MBA course at SASTRA University must complete their UG degree with minimum 50% marks. The university accepts TANCENT exam for admissions. Alternatively, students can also get MBA admission on the basis of CAT, XAT, CMAT, and AIMCAT scores. 

Students looking for admission at SASTRA University, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set by the university. For UG courses, students must complete Class 12, and for PG courses, students must complete graduation. For eg, students looking for BTech first year admission must complete Class 12 with 60% aggregate.

Candidate should have passed Class 12 with Maths Physics and Chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Computer Science/ Biology as their subjects from any recognised Board with a minimum aggregate of 60%. The total course fee for the BTech course ranges between INR 4.7 lakhs to INR 7.7 lakhs. SASTRA University offers BTech across 23 specialisations along with integrated MTech across two specialisations. Spread over four years and eight semesters, admission to all these courses is subject to JEE Main scores for 70% of the seats and is subject to Class 12 scores for the remaining 30% of the seats.

Yes, candidates can join SASTRA University BTech courses without appearing for JEE Mains. There are two admission criterias for admission to SASTRA University BTech and they are as mentioned below:

Stream 1: JEE Mains + Class 12 marks (50% weightage given to each), for admission to 50% of the total seats

Stream 2: Class 12 marks (100% weightage), for admission to the remaining 50%

The candidates can opt for any of the streams mentioned above, as per their convenience. Interested candidates must meet the eligibility criteria, mentioned below, before applying:

Eligibility- Class 12 with Maths and Physics as compulsory subjects with either Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology, from a recognised board, and a minimum 60% aggregate.

Applicants, without Maths, are eligible to apply for BTech- Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, M.Tech (5 year Integrated)- Biotechnology, Medical Nanotechnology.

As per the official website, 2265 seats are available across all 32 BTech specialisations. These specialisations include Aerospace Engineering, CSE, ECE, Mechanical, Robotics & Artificial Intelligence and Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, among others. Other than these courses, SASTRA University also offers two specialisations under 5-year integrated M.Tech programme, namely Biotechnology and Medical Nanotechnology. Admission to BTech is possible at SASTRA Deemed University via two methods:

1. 50% of the seats are filled based on JEE Main scores and normalised marks of Class 12. JEE Main scores and Class 12 scores are given equal weightage. 
2. Only Class 12 scores are required for admission to 50% of the remaining seats.

Admission to SASTRA Chennai (Deemed to be University) is entrance-based. Some of the national-level exams accepted are CUET/JEE Main/XAT,  CAT,  CMAT, etc. It is also crucial that the aspirants meet the course-specific minimum eligibility criteria. SASTRA offers merit-based scholarships to meritorious and skilled students under the following categories:

• It awards merit scholarships to the students who fall in the top 3 to 10% of high scorers in their semester examinations. The students are offered one-fifth of the semester fee
• The top 3% scorers at the university are offered two-fifth of the semester fee

Yes, in addition to regular, full-time and part-time courses, SASTRA Deemed University also has a Directorate for Online and Distance Education (ODE) that offers numerous UG and PG courses via distance/online mode.

Candidates seeking admission to the MBA programme at SASTRA University should possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline and should have a valid scores in CAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ AIMCAT. Candidates based on their scores in any one of the aforementioned exam will be shortlisted for the Personal Interview (PI) round. Those who qualify for the PI round will be required to report to the admission cell at SASTRA University for document verification and fee payment leading to final seat allotment.

The total tuition fee is inclusive of admission fee, caution deposit, exam fee, and charges for many other facilities offered during the programme such as laboratory, library, etc. The SASTRA University fee is taken from the official sources and is subject to change.
