PhD is offered in full-time and part-time mode. PhD (part-time) is offered in three to six-year duration divided into six to 12 semesters, respectively. Candidates can gain admission to PhD through the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT-Phase II or the AICTE QIP Scheme.

Full-Time candidates: All candidates who pursue full-time research in SRMIST shall belong to this category.
Part-Time (Internal) candidates: All candidates employed in SRMIST who pursue part-time research in SRMIST shall belong to this category.
Part-Time (External) candidates: All candidates working in industrial units, colleges, government departments, research organisations or other institutions, sponsored for pursuing PhD courses in SRMIST while continuing to serve in their respective institutions/ organisations which are recognized as the Research Centres of SRMIST shall belong to this category. They shall pursue research in their place of employment and/ or in SRMIST.

Candidates willing to get admitted to SRM Institute of Technology Kattankulathur can apply online on the official website of the deemed University on payment of a common application fee of INR 1,200. Placements: SRM University is the best university in all over Tamil Nadu. Approximately 40% of the students are studying PhD in our college. The highest salary package offered is 4 to 5 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 2 to 3 LPA. Many top recruiting companies offer better career options.

Infrastructure: Various types of facilities and infrastructure are available, like Wi-Fi, labs and different types of classrooms. Mainly the library is awesome where we find different types of books. Our college atmosphere is also very friendly, and we can feel very safe.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and highly qualified, which is the best thing and to learn more subjects. The teaching quality is very interesting and very valuable, and it is very important to know different topics related to our subject. The pass percentage is approximately 78%, which is very good.

Other: I have passed in the year 2019. The whole college experience is great and very helpful.

Satisfied with the work and implementations of our college.

Placements: The 3-level placement procedure is followed, and mass recruiters, core and dream companies like Amazon and Google visit the campus for placements. In 2017, about 90% of the students got placed through college placements. If you are a fabulous student, the highest salary offered was in between 20 LPA to 25 LPA. The average salary package offered was 3.8 LPA. There is a placement cell in our college, and it is helpful if students are sincere enough.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good with well-equipped labs and high-speed Wi-Fi facility. Classrooms and library are well-maintained. Hospital facilities are amazing and are maintained with proper hygiene. The food offered in the canteen is very healthy, and they use less spice and less oil so that students remain fit.

Faculty: Faculty members in our college are from the state of Tamil Nadu. Most of them are knowledgeable, but some professors have mind-blowing skills and knowledge. Students are free to ask any doubt to the faculty members, and the students get a positive response as well. Marking schemes of this college is very tough with lots of internals.

Other: Cultural and technical fests organised in our college are mind-blowing. Our college has a good and safe environment, and the campus is filled with positive vibes. There are many clubs per branch.

Placements: I had the best experience in this college. The best facilities are available here. Students are encouraged for their works, and many companies are in the row for students here. The best thing is that the scholarships are provided for each student that makes students study easily.

Infrastructure: Free Wi-Fi is available. The campus has the best educational environment. A digital studio is available in this college. Digital learning makes our study easy. A library is available with thousands of books. Sports kits and sports grounds are available, where the students can also do physical activities.

Faculty: All the teachers are very kind and intelligent. They always try to make our studies easy. They always encourage the poor students who are unable to take extra additional books. The teachers are well educated and experienced.

It is a good college for students.

Placements: Other than studies, many events are conducted in which certificates are also provided. They are useful for our jobs. Placements are provided for students according to their CGPA ranging from higher to lower in 4 years of the course. Based on that, salaries are offered by many companies like IT companies, mobile companies, Airtel, etc.

Infrastructure: Our college provides good facilities for students, and the infrastructure is also good. There are more trees inside SRM college. Hostel facilities and infrastructure are bad, but the food served in the hostel was the worst. There are no playgrounds in our college, and only two small basketball courts are available. There are less elevator facilities.

Faculty: Teachers here are good at clarifying doubts of the students, and they are very responsible. They are well qualified, while some are less qualified. They are knowledgeable in teaching and conducting lab activities. This course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students industry-ready.

Other: In the ECE branch, there are both hardware and software courses. The best things about our course are sensors and wireless communication subject.

Placements: Iam studying doctor of pharmacy ( Pharma.D ) in the SRM college of pharmacy. Its a very good course and the staffs have high knowledge to teach us. They are very appreciable. Students combine to show their knowledge related to the studies. It is good.

Infrastructure: Classrooms are very neat. Library helps to learn a lot with the librarians and relative assistants. The college lab seems to be very good. Hospital rounds to know about the patient is very useful in the hospital ward. It seems to be a best type of rate.

Faculty: Professors are very good in explaining their knowledge to students and help when any doubt occurs. Very useful to understand their guidelines offered by them. They also give the related notes to the students to study and ask to engage with them for clarification.

SRM Institute of Science and Technology PhD Scholarships 2026

All full-time PhD scholars who are selected for provisional registration during the admission year 2021 onwards will be paid INR 25,000 per month for a maximum period of three years. Candidates who have qualified in UGC-NET (including JRF)/ UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/GATE/GPAT will be paid INR 31,000 per month for a maximum period of three years. The eligibility for availing stipend every year, after the provisional registration, will be based on the progress made in research during the previous year. Candidates get a scholarship of INR 15,000 per month for three years under the QIP Engineering Scheme.Furthermore, support is given to additional PhD candidates taken up by institutes.
