Q: Who is eligible for SRM University?

SRM Institute of Science and Technology admissions are conducted on the basis of entrance tests. The admission for the flagship programs are held on the basis of SRMJEEE UG exam. Further, SRM MBA admissions are conducted on the basis of SRMJEEM test. The SRMJEEE PG test is conducted for the various SRMIST PG courses. The university also accepts scoring from nationally-held tests like CAT, TANCET, MAT, etc. for admissions.

Q: What is SRM cutoff mark?

SRM University Chennai offers Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) courses at the UG level in the Medical stream through NEET UG scores followed by round-wise NEET Counselling. As per SRM University Chennai cutoff 2024, the last-round closing rank was 195886 for admission to the MBBS course. The Round 1 closing rank for the same stood at 637582 for the students belonging to the General AI quota.

For BDS admission, the NEET UG first and last-round closing ranks were 980273 and 980273, respectively.

Q: Can students get admission at SRM University without SRM JEE?

SRM University conducts SRM JEE exam for admission to Engineering courses. The university does not accept scores for any other entrance exams. Also, direct admission is not valid either. Candidates are shortlisted for BTech and M.Tech based on their past academic records and scores obtained in the entrance exam.

To sit for the respective exams, candidates must apply for the exams priorly and make a preparation strategy to ace the exam.

Q: Can I join SRM without JEE?

Yes, candidates can get admission to BTech without JEE Main score. Admission to BTech course is only based on SRMJEEE score. Candidates are required to pass Class 12 with minimum 60% aggregate as per the minimum eligibility criteria. Further, aspirants must qualify for SRM JEE exam with a valid score. Review of SRMIST - SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.

Placements: Placements are not provided for B.Des students, and we will have to find it by ourselves even for the internship, which is the part of the curriculum. Roles offered to the students are junior interior designer, interior design consultant, interior analyst and interior designer.

Infrastructure: The department has various paintings, structures and artefacts which are made by the students as part of the curriculum or as part of the fest. The infrastructure of our college should be improved as there used to be water leaks during monsoon. There is only one lab for the whole department, and we had to use the lab in MBA block. Library holds necessary books and thesis works. Wi-Fi range is not good in the block. Hostel rooms are cleaned every day. Mess food is good at times, and there are varieties of options. Sometimes it gets over fast, and they take time to refill.

Faculty: Few faculty members who are experienced with working outsides gives the insight of the usefulness regarding the syllabus. Most of the faculty members just teach according to the syllabus. The course curriculum should be more related to the field and should be given practical experience, and software should be taught briefly.

Other: The college provides exposure to extracurricular activities and fests. The campus is with people from different cultures.
