Established in 1857, Mumbai University (MU) is a state-run institution, recognised by the UGC and accredited with an A++ grade by the NAAC. According to the NIRF Ranking 2024, Mumbai University is at 61 position among the top Universities in India. Like any other Institution/University maintaining an attendance of 75% is mandatory for the students at Mumbai University. The University has its own Attendance Committee, for the smooth conduct of this ordinance in every Department. As per the Attendance Ordinance, candidates must maintain at least 75% attendance for each course & average attendance. If the students fail to maintain the number, the department/college doesn’t forward the examination form to the University exam unit. However, a minimum attendance of 50% is considered in special cases like health issues, family losses, etc.

 The University of Mumbai (MU) releases multiple merit lists every year followed by a counselling and document verification process to offer admission to students in MU-affiliated colleges. Mumbai University merit list are released for admission to more than 750 affiliated colleges in programmes such as FYBA, FYBSWA, FYBCom, FYBSc, FYBMS, FYBVoc, FYB Library Science and FYBPA. These merit lists University carries the names of students who are shortlisted on the basis of marks they have obtained in their last qualifying examinations.
