No, aspirants wishing to apply for BDes course at VIT Vellore should either have UCEED score or appeared for VIT DAT (Design Aptitude Test). VIT-DAT is a written exam of two hours duration consisting of objective type questions - MSQ & MCQ, short descriptive answers, and creative ability questions with no negative marking. The university gives 50% weightage to entrance exam score. After entrance exam, the next step of selection is based on portfolio followed by a personal interview round.

BDes is one of the popular courses of VIT Vellore. VIT offers BDes in Industrial Design for a duration of four years through VIT School of Design. IIT Bombay declared the results of UCEED 2025 on March 7, 2025. The results were announced for all candidates who appeared in the design entrance exam. However, merit ranks were released only for those who qualified Part A and were shortlisted. Part B answer booklets of candidates who failed to qualify Part A were not evaluated. The qualifying marks for Part A were released around the time of the result declaration.

No, a minimum of Class 12 with at least 60% in PCM is required to apply for VIT Vellore BDes programme. However, there is relaxation in percentage for SC/ ST and students from North-Eastern states. Check below the detailed eligibility:

• Indian nationals/ Non-resident Indian National can apply for BDes course.
• Candidates should have passed Class 12 or Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognised board/ university or its equivalent examination with at least 60% aggregate with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects to apply for BDes.
• Students who have appeared for Class 12 finals and awaiting results can also apply, subject to submission of passing certificate by the notified date.

Note: In case, applicants belong to SC/ST community or hail from Jammu and Kashmir/ Ladakh and the North Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura, 10% relaxation is provided.

IIT Bombay conducted the UCEED 2025 exam on January 19, 2025 (9 am – 12 noon). The exam had two mandatory parts: the computer-based Part A and the offline Part B. The UCEED 2025 admission portal was uceed.iitb.ac.in, which hosted all key updates including the information brochure, eligibility criteria, syllabus, candidate portal, and downloadable resources like previous years' question papers and answer keys.
