VIT Vellore MDes Eligibility & Highlights 2026
VIT Vellore offers a full-time MDes in Industrial Design programme via the VIT School of Design (V-SIGN). The duration of the programme is two years. Admission to an MDes at VIT Vellore is based on candidates' performance in CEED/VITMEE, followed by a counselling round for seat allotment, conducted by the Deemed University. Candidates selected submit the applicable counselling fee by demand draft drawn in favour of “Vellore Institute of Technology”, payable at Vellore (only computerised DD will be accepted). Candidates, who fail to pay the advance at the time of counselling, are not considered for admission.
The VIT Vellore MDes fee of INR 3.52 lakh (subject to change). Given below are the minimum eligibility criteria for the course:

No, candidates can not get direct admission in VIT Vellore. The college provides an admission process to students on the basis of an entrance exam for the majority of the courses. Some of the popular national-level entrance exams accepted by the college are NATA, GATE, CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT, etc.
No, VIT Vellore admissions are not solely based on VITEEE. The university conducts VITEEE for BTech admission, VITMEE for MTech admissions and VITREE for PhD admission. The institute accepts national-level entrance exams like CAT, XAT, MAT, GMAT, CMAT, ATMA, etc., for MBA course. However, admission to a few other courses, including BSc, BSc (Hons), BCA, BCom, MSc, MCA, among others, is based on the aggregate obtained by the candidates in previous qualifying degree/ exam (merit-based). Candidates who wish to receive admission to the MDes course at VIT Vellore must meet the course-specific eligibility criteria and apply online before the last date of application. Students may look below for a breakdown on the VIT Vellore application process:

Admission to VIT BTech course is based on VITEEE score, followed by a counselling round.
