What’s new at ODL JMI? The last date to apply for Jamia Millia Islamia Online Distance Learning (ODL) programmes have been extended to March 25, 2022.

The Centre for Distance and Open Learning started in Jamia Millia Islamia with the assistance of the Distance Education Council in September 2002. The Centre for Distance and Open Learning is approved by the MHRD, Government of India in 2009 and all the programmes running by it are recognised by the UGC-DEB along with NCTE-approval. The Centre has established Learner Support Centres located at various places in India, such as Assam, Bihar, Haryana, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, UP, West Bengal, Delhi and NCR to provide academic as well as administrative support to its learners. The distance education programme delivery system includes the multi-media approach, i.e., self-learning print material, audio/ video components, and assignments, counselling sessions, practical work and workshops.

Jamia Millia Islamia Admission Dates 2022

As mentioned earlier, JMI Entrance Exam is conducted for admission to almost all the courses. The JMI Entrance Exam is conducted annually in offline mode at seven examination centres, including Thiruvananthapuram, Delhi, Lucknow, Guwahati, Patna, Srinagar and Kolkata. ODL JMI Admission 2021: Highlights

ODL JMI admission 2021 details for all the UG, PG, diploma and certificate courses are enlisted below:

  • Admission to CDOL JMI courses is offered once in July every year
  • Admission to all the courses offered at CDOL JMI (except B.Ed & MBA) is based on candidate's performance in previous qualifying degree/ exam
  • For admission to B.Ed or MBA programme, candidates need to appear for JMI Entrance Exam
  • ODL also provides a spot admission facility for all programmes except B.Ed and MBA, whereby any candidate fulfilling eligibility requirements for a particular programme may directly submit the admission form along with the prescribed admission

The B.Ed admission entrance test is of two-hour duration and it comprises 100
multiple-choice questions, each of 1 mark. There is no negative marking and the medium of entrance test is English. The admission entrance exam broadly covers:
  • General Awareness: 40 Marks
  • Teaching Aptitude: 30 Marks
  • Analytical Reasoning: 30 Marks

The MBA admission entrance test is of two-hour duration and it comprises 100
multiple-choice questions, each of 1 mark. There is no negative marking and the medium of entrance test is English. The admission entrance exam broadly covers:

  • English Comprehension: 20 (Critical Reasoning & Reading Comprehension)
  • Quantitative Aptitude and Numerical Ability: 20
  • Data Analysis and Sufficiency: 20
  • Reasoning and General Intelligence: 20
  • Knowledge about Current Affairs and Economic & Business Environment: 20

CDOL JMI Admission 2021

As mentioned earlier, JMI has a Centre of Distance & Open Learning (CDOL), under which it offers four UG and three PG programmes, including B.Ed, BA, BCom, BBA, MA, MBA and MCom. The University also offers several Diploma, PG Diploma and Certificate courses in distance learning mode.

Seat Intake: For all the programmes (except B.Ed. and MBA), there is no limit to the number of seats. However, the number may be limited depending on the infrastructural capacity of a respective Learner Support Centre. However, the total number of seats in B.Ed. programme is 500 and for MBA programme, it is 100.

In addition to this, JMI has entered into MoU with Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Indian Army and Indian Coast Guard that permits the defence personnel to undertake degrees and diplomas through distance mode offered at CDOL in one sitting. An exemption of two years in the case of UG programmes and one year in PG programmes is provided to the Indian Defence Personnel in lieu of their in-service training/ courses. For course-wise eligibility and fee details regarding these courses, refer the prospectus attached above.

Additional course offered at ODL JMI:

The Centre also runs an Urdu Certificate Course. Its purpose is to teach Urdu by means of different languages (Hindi & English) through distance mode. This certificate programme is offered free of cost. However, interested candidates need to pay Rs 100 through postal order to meet the postal charges for the dispatch of books and correspondence. 

CDOL JMI Application Process 2022

Candidates willing to seek admission need to download the application form from the official website of JMI. The duly downloaded and completed application form has to be submitted to the respective Programme Coordinator, CDOL, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi or selected Learner Support Centre. The application form has to be accompanied by an application fee in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Jamia Millia Islamia payable at New Delhi.” The application fee for all the distance learning programmes (except MBA & B.Ed) is INR 500 while for MBA and B.Ed programme is Rs 700.

*Duly verified and completed application form for admission of Indian Defence Personnel should be submitted to the programme coordinators along with Demand Draft (in favor of Jamia Millia Islamia and payable at New Delhi) of application fee (INR 500) and programme fee and the required documents at CDOL, JMI, New Delhi -110025 by post/ courier or in person. Indian Navy personnel can also submit the forms through their units, including Delhi, Mumbai, Vishakhapatnam, Kochi.

As per the information on web, Jamia Milia Islamia forms for Class 12 usually releases in February. The applications are open till March. Students also have to give a written test for Class 6.

JMI admission is entrance-based. The final selection is based on entrance scores and merit. The university accepts CUET, NEET, JEE Main, NATA, etc. There is no provision for direct admission at JMI.

To get admission at Jamia Millia Islamia, candidates must meet the eligibility. The eligibility is to have valid scores in last qualifying exams. The final selection is based on entrance exams and merit. The accepted entrance exams are NATA, JEE Main, NCET, NEET, etc.

No, students cannot get admission in JMI with 45% in graduation. The percentage is not enough. The eligibility is to have minimum 50% in graduation. The final selection is based on entrance scores.

Yes, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) accepts CUET PG scores for MCA admissions starting from the 2023 cycle onward. For the 2026–27 session, MCA admissions at JMI are routed through CUET PG conducted by NTA, and candidates must apply via the university's admission portal after appearing for CUET PG.
