Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, Visakhapatnam (GITAM Visakhapatnam) was established in 1980. It offers more than 100 courses at UG, PG and PhD level. The PhD programme is offered in full-time and part-time mode across various specialisations. The deemed University conducts an in-house examination, GURCET to offer admission to most of its PhD specialisations.

GITAM Visakhapatnam accepts several national-level exams to grant admission to various PhD specialisations. The complete exam schedule of these exams is given in the table below:

GITAM Visakhapatnam PhD Admission 2020

GITAM Visakhapatnam offers PhD programme in both full-time and part-time mode with a course duration of three and four years, respectively. The PhD programme is offered across 38 specialisations, in the streams of Engineering, Applied Sciences, Management, International Business, Humanities, Law and Pharmacy. Candidates can find stream-specific eligibility and selection criteria listed below:

PhD in Engineering: Candidates, who have passed ME/ MTech in relevant stream or BE/ BTech/ AIME degree in Civil Engineering, are eligible to apply. Applicants are further shortlisted based on their academic merit

PhD in Applied Sciences, Management and International Business: To be eligible for PhD in Applied Sciences specialisations, candidates need to pass any PG degree from a recognised institute/ university with a minimum of 55 per cent aggregate. Eligible candidates with GURCET scores are granted admission. However, candidates, with MPhil degree from a recognised institute along with UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ GPAT/ Pre-PhD Exam/ GURCET score, are also granted direct admission

PhD in Humanities: Candidates, with any PG degree from a recognised institute/ university with a minimum of 55 per cent aggregate along with valid GURCET score, are granted admission

GITAM Visakhapatnam PhD Application Process 2020

The admission to all the programmes is done online through the official website of GITAM (www.gitam.edu). Here are the screenshots to elaborate a step-by-step application process of GITAM Visakhapatnam for your reference: 

Step 1: Visit the official website of GITAM. Scroll down to the bottom of the homepage and click on ‘Apply Online’

Step 2: Select the course and course-specific institute. Hit ‘Apply Now’ once done. Further, click on ‘New Applicant’ to register yourself online

Step 3: Register by addressing details, including your name, email ID, mobile number. Create an alpha-numeric password for future logins

Step 4: On the first page of the application form, fill all the personal details, including guardian information, gender, category, etc. Also, upload a recent passport-size photograph in JPG format (up to 200 kb)

Step 5: In the second page, add details regarding address of communication, including permanent and local address

Step 6: Further, add details of educational qualifications. Also, add entrance exam score (if any). Select hostel and transport facility specifications

Step 7: Select test center and dates (in case of GITAM in-house entrance exam). Also, choose the subject specification for the respective entrance exam

Step 8: Upload all the required documents to support the info furnished in the application form. Hit ‘Proceed’ to reach the final step of the application form

Step 9: Select the type of fee to be paid. Click on ‘Registration Fee’ to reach the payment gateway. Pay Rs 3,000 using debit card/ credit card/ net banking

Step 10: Conclude the application process by downloading the filled application form and payment confirmation receipt for future references
