Jamia Millia Islamia offers a full-time PhD programme for a five-year duration in more than 56 specialisations. These PhD specialisations are offered across all the departments of JMI in both regular and self-financed mode. The University conducts an entrance test, namely JMI Entrance Exam for PhD admissions. However, UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ GATE-qualified candidates are also granted admission based on their performance in PI round and research proposal.

Jamia Millia Islamia PhD Admission 2021

Jamia PhD admissions are based on candidates’ performance in a written test conducted by JMI, followed by an interview round and evaluation of research proposal. Candidates have to secure at least 50% marks each in both Section A and B to qualify the test and appear for further rounds. The following category of candidates shall be exempted from appearing in the entrance test for the PhD admission:

  • Candidates who have qualified UGC NETCSIR NET/ SLET/ GATE or have successfully completed MPhil from a recognised university/ institute
  • The teacher fellowship holders provided that the competent employing authority issues a NOC to the candidate to join the PhD programme and an undertaking that the candidate will be granted leave for the duration of the required coursework

Q:   What can students do after JEE Main session 2 result?
A: 

After JEE session 2 is completed, only those candidates who are aiming for IITs need to start preparing for JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main. Those who are above the 98th percentile should start preparing for JEE Advanced as soon as possible. Those below this, between the 95th and 98th percentile, should focus on attempting more mock tests and previous year question papers so that they have a better chance of clearing JEE Advanced

Q:   What is the selection criteria for JMI entrance exam?
A: 

JMI selection criteria includes shortlisting of candidates on the basis of scores obtained in JMI exam. For some courses candidates are required to also appear for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The cut off for each course is released after the selection procedure is over and candidates are called for counselling and document verification. Candidates should go through the selection process mentioned in the e prospectus of JMI for their respective course.

Q:   What is the minimum score required for qualifying in JMI Entrance Exam?
A: 

As per the general guidelines released by JMI, the minimum qualifying marks in Objective Type/MCQs is 15% and in Descptive Questions is 30%.

Q:   What are the eligibility criteria to apply for Jamia Millia Islamia Entrance Exam?
A: 

The eligibility criteria for each course is different. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria before applying for the Jamia Millia Islamia Entrance Exam. For UG course, candidates must have passed Intermediate with at least 50 per cent marks from any board. For PG course, graduate degree with at least 50 per cent marks from any recognised university is required.

Jamia Millia Islamia Seat Reservation 2021

Jamia Millia Islamia offers seat reservation in almost all the courses based on the category of the students. The details regarding the same are enlisted below:

  • If seats remain vacant in the categories of women applicants and OBC-NCL, then those seats will be transferred to the Muslim minority category.
  • No seats are available in the BDS course for Kashmiri Migrants and candidates belonging to Jammu and Kashmir
  • For BArch programme, no seats are available for foreign candidates
  • NCC Cadets and NSS Volunteers will be eligible for a relaxation of 5% and 2%, respectively in the aggregate of the qualifying examination.

Jamia Millia Islamia Scholarships 2021

The University offers several scholarships on a merit and needs basis. The details regarding some of the JMI scholarships are given below:

  • Jamia Merit Scholarship: The top scorers of the respective exams are eligible for this scholarship.
  • Merit Scholarship for the Centre of Management: This scholarship is given to MBA first and second-semester students. The top scorers of semester exams are awarded this scholarship.
  • SC/ST/OBC Scholarship: This scholarship is given to the reserved category candidates. Economically weak candidates are also eligible for this scholarship.
  • Scholarship for International Exchange Programme: Candidates who are selected for the International Exchange Programme are eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is offered by the Centre for Management Studies.

Hostel fee at JMI is around INR 30,950 for 6 months. This includes INR 15,350  for accomodation and other charges and INR 15,600 for mess charges. Hostel fee may differ for boys and girls.

At Jamia Millia Islamia, self-financed MBA course is not subsidised by the government. Admitted students need to bear the full-cost of such a programme. Regular MBA is subsidised by the government.

Admission process in BDes at JMI is ongoing. The entrance exam for BDes admission has already been conducted by JMI. The first Merit List of selected candidates is expected to release between late June to early July.

JMI BDes fee has many components such as tuition fee, hostel fee, one-time payments. Total course fee for 4 years is INR 4.19 lakh. Students who avail hostel fee need to pay around INR 30,950 per semester.
