Punjab University: Fees, Rooms, Rules, Mess, Food

Punjab University is in Chandigarh and is ranked 41 by NIRF among all the universities. Punjab University has hostel facilities and Punjab University has good cleanliness on the campus as well as a hostel. 

Punjab University Boys Hostel Facilities:

Accommodation charges for boys in the hostel are Rs. 5600 per semester which is INR 10200 per year and the same is the charge for the girl's hostel. The rooms in the hostel are quite clean and well-furnished. There are 08 boys' hostels on campus and there is a different mess in the hostel which provides vegetarian food and seasonal food to the students. Registration for the hostel can be done by filling out the hostel's registration form, which is available on the college's website. Students are also required to fill out the anti-ragging form and submit it to the hostel office. The registration and hostel seats are given to students based on the merit list released by the university every year. The merit list that is released by the university every year is based on the distance of the student’s hometown to the university and the merit list is also based on the marks scored by the student in the previous exam. 

The boy’s hostel fee is not so high it is nearly RS. 5,600 only and there is also security money which is nearly RS.7000 and the security money is given back after completing one year in the hostel. The student must live for a complete year in the hostel according to the rules and regulations of the University. If/ the student fails to do so, then it is essential to give the fees for a complete year without residing in the hostel.   The room sharing in the hostel in the first year is for 2 students and 2,3,4 sharing is also allowed in a single room. 

Q:   What is the fee for BTech at Punjab University?
A:

The total fee for BTech ranges from INR 92,460 to INR 5.6 lakh. This fee, however, is sourced from an unofficial source. Hence, is indicative. Other than the course fee, students are required to pay the registration fee for JEE Main, JAC Chandigarh, PU LEET or PU MEET depending on their admission process. The fee for JEE Main application form for General/ Gen-EWS/ OBC (NCL) male candidates is INR 650 for a single paper while SC/ ST/ PwD/ Transgender and Female candidates are required to pay application fees of INR 325. The application fee for JAC Chandigarh is INR 2,800 and the same for PU LEET and PU MEET is INR 2,175 and INR 2,500, respectively.

A:

The total fee for MBA ranges between INR 42,700 and INR 6.20 lakh. This information is sourced from official website/ sanctioning body and is subject to change.  For more details and fee break-up for MBA at PU, candidates are advised to reach out to the admission office of Panjab University or the MBA-affiliated college of PU. Other than the course fee, students are required to pay the registration fee for CAT or PU MET exam depending on their admission process The application fee is INR 3,250 at UBS and INR 2,175 (PU MET) for General category candidates.

Q:   Is B.Tech from PUCHD expensive?
A:

The total tuition fee for BTech ranges between INR 99,710 and INR 6.19 Lakh. This fee, however, is sourced from an unofficial source. Hence, is indicative. Other than the course fee, students are required to pay the registration fee for JEE Main, JAC Chandigarh, PU LEET or PU MEET depending on their admission process. Considering the fee charged by the topmost BTech colleges in the country, i.e., IITs, the fee charged by PU can not be considered affordable provided it goes up to 6.19 Lacs tuition charges. However, the university offers a wide range of merit, category-based and other scholarships for handicapped students to furnish the financial needs of the students. Coming back to the additional charges that students are required to pay beyond the tuition charges is the fee for JEE Main application form. The same for General/ Gen-EWS/ OBC (NCL) male candidates is INR 650 for a single paper while SC/ ST/ PwD/ Transgender and Female candidates are required to pay application fees of INR 325. Additionally, the application fee for JAC Chandigarh is INR 2,800 and the same for PU LEET and PU MEET is INR 2,175 and INR 2,500, respectively. 

The boy’s hostel facilities include free Wi-Fi, and beds, chairs, and tables are also provided by the hostel to the students. Each room in the hostel has balconies and separate cupboards for each student and the gym facility is also provided to the students. The food quality in the mess is also very good. The solar water heater is also in the hostel and the hostel's common room has LCD, magazine and newspaper facilities as per the student’s needs. The Hostel has an aqua-guard for the safety of the student and to ensure that every student drinks safe water and stays away from illness there are also geysers in the bathroom for the winter season. Though the rooms of the hostel are not so spacious, the rooms of the hostel are small. The room has coolers in it.

Hostel meal is charged 40 on a daily basis and for the special meal, the price per meal is RS. 46. 

The boy's guests can also stay in the boy's hostel for a day or two and then they are charged according to their needs. The charge for the room for a day is RS.45 only and the charge for the common room is a little less than a separate room. The Lunch and dinner charge is RS. 40 only and the breakfast charge is RS.50 only, Ex-resident charge of the hostel is RS.20 only.

A:

The application fee for MBA at Panjab University Chandigarh is INR 2,710 for General category candidates. Panjab University offers two-year MBA programmes across four specialisations via the University Business School and across seven specialisations via the University Institute of Applied Management Sciences. Other than these,  Dr. S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology offers an Integrated BE (Chemical) - MBA to the students. For the application fee of UIAMS and Dr. SS Bhatnagar, candidates can refer to their official websites.

The fees for BTech in Punjab University is aound INR 92,500- INR 6.2 lakh. Panjab University offers a four-year BE programme across eight specialisations at the undergraduate level. Along with this, the university also offers an Integrated BE (Chemical) - MBA programme to the students. Admission to BE at Panjab University is subject to a valid score in JEE Main exam, followed by JAC Chandigarh Counselling. All the affiliated colleges of Panjab University offering BTech are part of JAC Chandigarh counselling
