Yes, you are eligible to take the UGC NET in Commerce with a B.Com and an MSW. Eligibility for UGC NET typically requires a master's degree with at least 55% marks from a recognised university.
Your B.Com provides the foundational knowledge in commerce, while your MSW does not disqualify you from choosing Commerce as your subject for the exam. Ensure you meet the specific percentage criteria.
Last year cutoff for B.Com (Hons) in Hansraj College was 792 marks in CUET. So looking at previous cutoff it seems difficult in general category. Still you should apply or you can select any other good north campus of DU.
With less than 600 marks in CUET UG and belonging to the general category, getting into a top college for B.Com (Hons) in Delhi University might be competitive.
However, you still have a good chance at some well-regarded colleges. Consider applying to colleges like Aryabhatta College, Zakir Husain Delhi College, and Ramanujan College. It's essential to check the previous year's cutoffs and keep an eye on the current year's trends. Applying through the DU admission portal and being open to different campus options will increase your chances.
As a rule, admission to B.Com (Hons.) is provided in Dayalbagh Educational Institute based on CUET for which you are supposed to take subject-wise tests. The common subjects asked in the entrance test are on Accountancy, Business Studies, Mathematics, or Economics-based. Sole dependence on the General Test might not help one much as most universities, like Dayalbagh Educational Institute want students with prior knowledge of relevant subjects in commerce-related fields. One needs to follow the specific CUET guidelines of the institute in choosing the subjects required to stand a better chance for admission.
Yes, self-study can be sufficient for IPU CET preparation if you have a disciplined approach, access to quality study materials, and are dedicated to your studies. Many students have successfully cleared the exam through self-study.
However, it is important to have a well-structured study plan, access to previous year question papers, mock tests, and reliable study materials. Additionally, seeking guidance from teachers, taking help from online resources, and solving practice questions can further enhance your preparation.
Few of the common mistakes done by students while preparing for CET-IPU are:
- Not having a proper time table: Students work hard, but many of them do not prepare a daily/weekly time table. Time-table must be in such a way that it must be promising and must be followed.
- Clearing doubts: A lot of students feel shy to ask about their doubts about their faculties and at that moment, they leave those doubts and move on which creates problems for exam preparation and revision.
- Regular revision: Needs to regularly revise all the concepts, formulae and shortcuts learnt, else, it might become difficult to recall them on the day of the final exam. For this, you can keep half a day aside every week or fortnight, wherein you would be revising all that you have covered so far.
- Skipping mock test: Mock tests are for revision. In that, they clear their doubts and give details about time management and tell you how much you need to prepare.
- Analysis of mock test: You must need to give a maximum of 8 mock tests and analyse every mock test.
- Giving up in the middle of the journey: Many students think that it’s not possible to crack the exam. So, they give up and start preparing for other exams or else, they leave their aim or passion.
In the IPU CET (Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test), there is negative marking. This means one mark is deducted for each incorrect response. However, it's important to note that marks are not deducted for unanswered questions. This means that if a candidate leaves a question unanswered, no marks are deducted.
The provision of negative marking implies that candidates need to be cautious while answering questions and should only attempt those for which they are reasonably confident about the correct answer.
