How Many Students Appear for CUET? National Testing Agency releases data for how many students registered for CUET UG?. Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is a national-level entrance test conducted by the National Testing Agency for admission to Undergraduate (UG) courses offered by participating universities. It is one of the biggest UG entrance examinations which records nearly 14 lakh unique registrations. CUET UG 2026 will be held in May and June 2026 CBT mode. This year, it is expected more than 13.5 lakh candidates will apply for CUET 2026 exam.
CUET UG is a crucial step for students aiming for undergraduate programs. But just how many students appear for CUET UG each year? For CUET, the number of students registered was reduced by 1.5 lakh compared last year. The maximum number of registrations are received for CUET English subject. NTA will release information about the number of students who have registered for CUET UG 2026. The number of students registered is expected to increase by a marginal number this year. National Testing Agency (NTA) will commence the CUET UG 2026 registrations at cuet.nta.nic.in. Candidates desirous of taking admission to University/college through CUET must fill the application form before the deadline. On the release of the CUET notification, important dates for CUET 2026 will be announced. CUET 2026 application process will be in online mode. Candidates will be required to fill the application form, upload documents and pay the application fee in online mode only. CUET is a gateway to more tahn 250 universities across India for its UG courses.
For admission to the desirous University/Institution, the candidates must appear in CUET 2026 in the Languages and Domain Specific subjects as per the Program-Specific Eligibility for which s (he) is desirous to take admission. For instance, if a candidate wishes to apply for B.Com (Hons.) programe in Delhi University he/she will be required to make the subject combination as :
Combination I: Any one Language from List A + Mathematics/Applied Mathematics + Any two subjects out of which at least one should be from List B1
OR
Combination II: Any one Language from List A + Accountancy/Book Keeping + Any two subjects out of which at least one should be from List B1
Candidates are advised to check CUET programme-specific eligibility criteria before filling the application form, failing which they will not qualify for further admission process.

From CUET UG 2026 onwards, candidates can now choose for five CUET subjects. Earlier, the subject choices were six. With the rediuction in number of CUET subjects, the choices have been reduced. Candidates can opt for five subjects from 23 domain subjects of any stream irrespective of subjects studied in class 12th.
Candidates can apply for CUET exam 2026 till January 30, 2026. NTA has released the CUET application form 2026 online at cuet.nta.nic.in. Candidates must make sure to register for CUET exam and select appropriate CUET subjects to be eligible for admissions. CUET UG application form 2026 commenced on January 03.
NTA has released the CUET eligibility criteria.
- Students who have passed class 12th exam or are appearing for final examinations will be eligible to apply for CUET exam.
- Student must have scored 50% marks in total (general category) or 45% marks (SC/ST and other categories).
- There is no age limit to apply for CUET UG 2026 exam. However, candidates are advised to check the university and course wise criteria for admissions.
Number of Students Appeared in CUET 2023
The previous year, NTA recorded a 41% increase in the number of registrations for CUET UG 2023. Out of 16.85 lakh registered candidates, 13.995 lakh candidates submitted the application form along with the payment of the application form. CUET UG 2023 saw an increase of 4 lakh candidates. To prepare for CUET Mathematics exam effectively, students must ideally give two to three hours practice. Students must focus on previous year qiuestion papers and mock tests to prepare well for exam. Daily practice and consistency will help candidate score 250 marks in exam.

Yes, NCERT is sufficient for conceptual clarity while preparing for CUET exam, but MCQ practice and CUET mock tests are important for scoring high. Students must not only focus on preparation books, they must solve CUET previous year question papers for Mathematics to know important topics or repeat

No, a valid CUET score is accepted for admissions to both BA (Hons) in Liberal Arts & Humanities and the BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics & Economics at JSLAH.
In the previous year admissions, CUET was only listed as an accepted exam for the BA (Hons) in Liberal Arts & Humanities admission.

No, candidates who wish receive the Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities BA (Hons) scholarships must provide a valid score in the JSAT. For admission to Delhi University, candidate must have passed or appeared for class 12 examination. There are no minimum marks requirement in class 12 for DU admission through CUET UG. DU may use the class 12 marks or percentage for tie breaking criteria.

CUET universities like DU and Allahabad University does not prescribe the minimum marks in class 12 for CUET UG.
