If you are planning to appear for JEE Main 2020, check the weightage given to each topic in the JEE exam & then give time accordingly to prepare.

I was in Class 11th when I heard about the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) for the first time from my Physics teacher. He told us that this is one of the premier institutes in India, where once you get admission you would have a good career and a bright future. We all were so motivated that day. My classmates and I started preparing for this exam by planning to join the coaching institute.

At present, I am in the final year of college pursuing my Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in CSE branch and have already placed with a starting package of Rs 6 lakh.

Now, let’s discuss how I strategised my preparation plan for JEE Main.

After giving my Class 12th exams, I appeared for the entrance exams, including JEE Main, Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) and Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BIT), without any preparation. Some of my relatives and teachers told me to check how prepared I am till now and know the question papers pattern.

I got 73/360 marks in JEE mains and 230/600 in UPTU. I was happy because I could qualify for JEE Main given that I belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category. However, my marks were not enough to secure a seat in any government colleges.

After this failure, I joined Resonance and did coaching for one complete year with a regular test series from my native city. Initially, I used to complete National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) books for all the subjects to strengthen my base. This was followed by solving questions given by my coaching tutor. The last step was to solve previous years’ questions for Physics, Chemistry and Maths with coaching notes and study materials.

My advice to those planning to appear for the upcoming JEE Main 2020 would be to work on your weaknesses. Give less time to any topic more than it requires, else it will create a problem. First check weightage given to each topic in the JEE exam then give time to them accordingly.

Just stay focused on your path and give your best shot.

After giving my exam, I secured a seat in state-level government college named Feroze Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Raebareli. I did not join the college as I was looking for a better option. However, in the end, I ended up taking admission in a private college with a good placements record. Now, I have secured a job through college placement.

In the end, never lose hope. Prepare with full zeal and after giving the exam wait for results and plan accordingly. Remember one thing, whatever happens, happens for good.
