Mystory@Vishnu A: How I chose my course and prepared for my competitive exam
I prepared for CAT along with my job at Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Constructions. Preparing for CAT while working for 12 hours, 6 days a week was a really difficult task. I registered for All India Mock CAT (AIMCAT) series at TIME. I used to give mock tests every weekend and tried to analyse the same during weekdays.
Analysing mock tests is really important. It helps you to know your weak areas where you need to work. Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VRC) section was my weak area. So, I spent more time in practicing it. I read at least one article every day in addition to reading the newspaper regularly. This helped me in improving my vocabulary as well as reading speed. Quantitative Aptitude (QA) was my strong point. My strategy to perform well in QA and Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) sections was to give as many mock tests as I could so as to increase my speed.
Maths was my favorite subject. So, I really enjoyed solving aptitude questions and this was one of the primary reasons that I thought of giving CAT exam. While working I realised the importance of management in any profession and I became more interested in a management job profile. This is why I decided to do MBA and learn more about it. I chose Engineering in my bachelor’s degree because I liked Maths very much.
