IIT Jammu admission 2026 is entrance-based. The institute accepts JEE Advanced scores for admission to its flagship programme i.e. BTech. Students are required to qualify JEE Main exam before appearing for JEE Advanced. Large number of applications and limited seats makes admission competitive for BTech programme. Candidates seeking admission to BTech at IIT Jammu need to appear in both JEE Main and JEE Advanced and further go through JoSAA counselling to secure admission. For MTech, admission is subject to GATE score followed by COAP counselling. Admission to PhD programme is entrance-based. Applicants need to appear for IIT JAM for admission to MSc programme.

Yes, while applying for the MTech programme at IIT Jammu, a student has to first register compulsorily on COAP portal. It is also mandatory for all candidates with valid GATE score to register at COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal) and use the COAP registration number while filling the application form of IIT Jammu. The application fee for M.Tech registration at IIT Jammu portal is INR 200 for SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates and INR 300 for other category candidates.

IIT Jammu JAM cutoff 2025 was released for round 1. The cutoff was released for M.Sc. in Chemistry and M.Sc.in Physics with the cutoff ranks of 645 and 641, among the General AI category candidates. Among the OBC AI category candidates, the closing ranks for MSc in Chemistry and MSc in Physics were 854 and 1041, respectively.

IIT Jammu offers a two-yearM.Techprogramme across six specialisations. Admission to this course is based on a GATE score followed by COAP counselling. Eligible students seeking admission must qualify for the entrance exam for admission to IIT Jammu. As mentioned, candidates who wish to apply to theM.Techprogramme must have a valid GATE score. However, candidates are screened based on their CGPI in BE/BTech and GATE score and then the shortlisted ones are further called for a written test and interview for final seat allotment process.
The admission to MTech at IIT Jammu is entrance-based. Candidates are required to appear for GATE exam and secure a good score. A cutoff list is then released to declare the minimum score required for selection. Candidates who meet the cutoff score become eligible for participation in COAP counselling. During counselling, the seat allotment process is carried out. The candidates who get a seat in IIT Jammu MTech courses shall report at the institute to submit important documents and pay the admission fee amount.
There are a total of 72 seats for MTech programmes of IIT Jammu. The highest number of seats are for MTech in Data Science and Information Security courses, i.e., 18 seats. Candidates are admitted to the PG courses based on GATE scores and educational qualifications. The seat allotment is carried out through COAP counselling. Further, it must be noted that the mentioned seat intake is as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is still subject to changes and hence, is indicative.

The admission cycle for MTech commences at IIT Jammu with GATE registrations. Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee has extended the GATE 2025 application submission date with extended fees. Aspirants shall ensure that they submit their forms on or before the prescribed deadline to become eligible to sit for the entrance examination.
Yes, you will get CSE at IIT Jammu with a JEE Advanced cutoff rank of 6000 if you belong to the General AI quota. However, you have to wait till the last round, as the cutoff ranks are generally higher in the initial rounds. For the unreserved category, the IIT Jammu CSE cutoff 2025 was 5988 in the first round. In the last round, the cutoff rank closed at 6651. Therefore, the probability of you getting CSE with a 6000 rank is high in the last round for admission. Please note that the cutoff ranks vary every year for each round. So target a rank lower than 6000 to improve your chances of admission. Admissions to the different BTech, BSc, M.Tech and MSc courses of Indian Institute of Technology Jammu will depend on entrance exam scores such as JEE Mains, GATE, JEE Advanced, etc. But it is difficult to say whether getting into IIIT Jammu is tough or easy and will depend on the:

No, JEE Main 2024 dates for admission to IIT Jammu are not out yet. It is expected that JEE Main 2024 notification will be released in the first week of December. NTA will conduct the JEE Main 2024 exam in two sessions in January and April. The exact date of the exam for both sessions will be announced in the notification. For 2023, cut off was 7855 for General category candidates in All India quota for BTech in Mathematics and Computing at IIT Jammu - Indian Institute of Technology. BTech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.
The cutoff trend for BTech at IIT Jammu has been increasing in the recent years. In 2022, the closing rank for BTech under General category for all India quota was 13048. In 2023, it increased to 14589. Likewise, the cut off ranks have increased from 4903 to 4906 for OBC, 2398 to 2660 for SC, 1128 to 1212 for ST, 2085 to 2487 for EWS. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for Engineering education in India continues to grow. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.
IIT Jammu JAM Cutoff 2024 is out for Round 2. The most competitive course as per the Cutoff was M.Sc in Chemistry, with a closing rank of 705. For the OBC AI category candidates, the Cutoff rank for M.Sc in Chemistry is 1032.
If the Cutoff score is more than 705, there is no scope for admission to M.Sc in Chemistry in any other IIT.

Yes, admissions are open at IIT Jammu. Students can apply through JEE Main by registering for the JEE Main exam then going through JEE Mains before JEE Advanced.
