NIT Uttarakhand review by Rohit.

Placements: Especially In mechanical engineering branch, almost 90% students get placed in different companies like TATA, Mahindra, etc. The overall placement at NIT UK is about 80%, which is good. But due to the location, most of the company does not want to come.

Infrastructure: It is obvious we are NITians, and the facilities like Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, libraries, etc. are there and they are good too but due to the temporary campus, which means sufficient space, these things get managed there. Space is less there but these get managed.

Faculty: The faculty is very helpful there. As we know, this is NIT, so their faculty members are well qualified and knowledgeable. They teach us in a very manner. Semester exams are difficult but if you go into the class, you will definitely get passing marks and your CGPA will also be better.

Other: I like designing and in mechanical engineering, I use AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc. There are various application which help in designing. Connectivity is the problem there due to the location. The campus crowd is good. Events and festivals are the main part of engineering; without them, no one live their. There are enough extracurricular activities .

My honest review for my juniors.

Placements: In 2023, 95% students were placed in mechanical engineering branch and in other branches, placements were also good, nearly 80-85%. But in 2024 placement in every branch was low. The highest package offered in mechanical branch is 18 LPA, and average package of the college is 7.5 LPA. Top recruiters visiting NIT Uttarakhand are LNT, Mahindra, Unacademy, and many other companies like some of the PSUs which hire based on factors other than GATE score also recruit students from NIT Uttarakhand. Internship programs are not good at all, and don't expect too much from college about internships do it on your own by applying to different companies.

Infrastructure: The condition of the classrooms is not too good but every classroom has projectors and many of them have air conditioning. Labs are good and Wi-Fi speed is good but with LAN it gives high-speed. Students can issue books from library at any time for their respective semester and return them at the end of the semester. Quality of the mess food is not too good but it is okay. Games and sports are also played like football, cricket, volleyball, table tennis, and many more. Different tournaments are also held in the NIT Uttarakhand like Inter NIT, Intra NIT, etc.

Faculty: Faculty members are very helpful and experienced in their respective subjects. All professors have done their Ph.D. from IITs or any other reputed college. Courses are relevant for students who want to pursue jobs in their core branch. Exams are held in three phase mid-term 1 of 20 marks, mid-term 2 of 20 marks, end term examination of 40 marks and 20 marks for internal either class test or any project or assignment is given to the students.

Other: I love to learn about machines and how machines are invented, how heavy machinery is made, how they design such things, how they installed turbine in hydroelectric power plant, and many more. Practical knowledge is more relevant in mechanical engineering than theoretical knowledge, then practical knowledge should be more than theory. Recently, a tech fest is conducted in NIT Uttarakhand named Prodyogeeky'24. In this fest many competitions are there like done race, root fight, coding competition, dancing competition, sports competition of games like PUBG mobile and many more. Every year alumni meet is conducted for better alumni connectivity. Many clubs are there for the extracurricular activities like literary club, coding club, sports club, and few more. In first year students can get scholarships easily.

Good and Decent Engineering College.

Placements: Placements in our college were decent. 70% of the students were placed in the year 2023. Core branches also have quite good placements. The average package was around 8 lacs, and the highest package was around 18 lacs. Many students qualify for the GATE exam and get jobs in PSUs. Internship opportunities were also available.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not good as the campus is temporary. Our temporary campus is also improving, and construction of our permanent campus is underway. Hostels were quite decent, only for boys. New hostels were also built after 1 year, but for girls, only old hostels are available. Mess food was pathetic.

Faculty: NIT Uttarakhand has one of the best curricula; it is the same as the other NITs in India. Faculty were well qualified; most professors were alumni of IITs and had 5–10 years of teaching experience. There are three exams in one semester: midterm 1, midterm 2, and end term.

Other: There are four clubs in NIT Uttarakhand. Cultural club, technical club, sports club, and literary club. Cultural clubs organize festivals for most of the festivals. The sports club was excellent; it provided all opportunities in every game.

It is a very good college.

Placements: Almost 90% of students got placed at our college in good positions with good salary packages. The average salary package offered is 10 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered ranges between 5 LPA - 6 LPA. Top recruiting companies are L&T, etc.

Infrastructure: Our college provides very good facilities for students. The infrastructure of our college is developing but good. The campus and hostels are Wi-Fi enabled. Labs, classrooms, and libraries are good in our college.

Faculty: All faculty members are very good and helpful. Their teaching quality is very good. They are qualified and have good knowledge. The pass percentage of our college is around 30-40%.

Other: Our college is ragging-free.

It provides good teachers, and excellent study environment, but infrastructure is not good.

Placements: Around 30% of students were placed although the percentage was high in CS. English was a compulsion through, and no major with recruitment companies. Mass recruiters come regularly. L&T, Nippon Steel were some companies for mechanical students. Rest everyone was allowed to sit for CS companies.

Infrastructure: There were no hostels of NIT itself, and our camps ran on a polytechnic building. Despite that, they managed sufficient rooms, allotted enough space for all activities. It provides hall, badminton, TT, football, cricket, cycling, gym were available though work needs to be done on music and arts.

Faculty: This college provides good and helpful teachers except a few. The curriculum was very relevant, and teachers teach accordingly. Daily laboratories despite very little area and helpful instructors as well even the Ph.D. students help students with our course. It has good conduction of exams and no cheating allowed.

Other: It has great campus life, course, and extracurricular activities were very less or no ragging, and fests were held in this college.

My jee mains CRL 2020 is 54683 will I get mechanical engineering in any nit ?

Hello Rugved, Your ranking in JEE Mains is at about 55000. The total number of seats is at around 50,000, out of these almost 50% are under one of the other reserved category. That leaves only about 25,000 seeds for general category candidates. So you can see for yourself as to where you stand. Of
