Good infrastructure and college life.
Placements: Around 80 percent of students got placed from my course last year, and around the same number for this year. Also, the highest package offered is 52 LPA, and the lowest is 8 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Microsoft and Amazon. Only around 5-6 students were offered a paid internship in the 3rd year.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for the department is very good. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus, but some hostels are not as good as the MBH rooms, which are very good. The rest of the hostels, which are 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 rooms, are very tiny, making it a struggle to live there. Food quality, sports facilities, and medical facilities are very good.
Faculty: Faculty depends on branch to branch, like the IT branch faculty, which is not as good as some professors are good in teaching but won't give marks, and some are very strict. Curriculum is up to date for most of the subjects, and in academics, it is good as they work on reviews for a subject and make changes accordingly.

I think things are changed, if a person who studies well he will definitely get a job.
Placements: According to seniors, till the end of the year you will get a job if you study. Like a senior who passed out last year got a job of 8 LPA even though his CG is 7. Last year the highest package is 52 LPA, basically 4 people got it, and the lowest is 6 LPA, one of them is also from the ICE department who got that.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the course is good, but the hostels are still not that great because they are old. However, a new hostel is under construction, and its facilities are really good. The sports facilities are good too, there are TT courts, badminton courts, and a tennis court.
Faculty: The ICE department faculty is very good. They are fully supportive, and if you share your problem personally with any of them, they will resolve it. Currently, the HOD is helpful and interactive with students. The ICE faculty are also interested in your research ideas and often refer you directly to many opportunities.
Other: Fests are good, the main fest is called Utkansh. Last time, Jubin Nautiyal came for a concert, it is my first concert. The college is also selected for many government scholarships like NSP, as well as private scholarships given by Reliance, Airtel, and other companies.

Really well-furnished infrastructure of our college with a new building and very good placement.
Placements: 43.5 percent of students got placed in the batch of 2021, and 59 percent in the 2024 batch. The top recruiting in my branch in the 2025 batch is 13.5 lakhs in Flipkart and 13 lakhs in Sigma, and the top recruiters are L&T, Flipkart, and many others. An internship is mandatory for every student after the second year, so it is a necessary thing and a role in a company as an SDE at Flipkart.
Infrastructure: There are different labs in our department, like the concrete technology lab, surveying lab, geotechnical lab, and AutoCAD lab. There are ample number of classrooms in our department. We have a 3-story library in our college, and the department also provides a seating area for studying in labs and departments. For the hostel, we have a well-equipped hotel with sports facilities like table tennis and badminton court, and a gym with a common room, library, TV room, and fully air-conditioned mess.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and knowledgeable. They have published many research papers, and they also have good teaching experience. The course curriculum is industry-ready, skill-based, and laboratory-based, all of which are needed for a job in civil engineering. The college exams are a little bit difficult, but above 85 percent of students pass the exam.
Other: The honest reason behind this is my rank, but after getting to this college, I understand that college is a choice, not a branch you can achieve in any branch or any stream.

College life is good and interactive. The seniors are the best.
Placements: A lot of students, more than 95% in each branch, have been placed. The maximum package was 53 LPA, and other than that, the off-campus highest package was 1 crore LPA. This has been one of the highest so far. Many recruitment companies come, such as Adobe and Google.
Infrastructure: There are approximately 15 hostels for boys and three hostels for girls, namely the MGH, the ILD, and GH1 and GH2. GH1 and GH2 are allotted to the first year, whereas the other hostels are allotted to the girls of the other years. The senior and junior interaction is good, and the in-time for girls is 10 PM.
Faculty: The faculty of the college is very good and interactive. They teach in a very good way and address doubts well. Only sometimes do the exam levels go much higher than expected, but the overall scores become good if one follows the syllabus relatively.
Other: There is not much extra, but being an NIT, it has all its benefits.

Life at NITJ is experienced by every student.
Placements: The placement rate is good, with 91%, and the average package is 11 to 12 LPA, the highest package in the CSE branch is 52 LPA, and the average package in the CSE branch is around 15 LPA. So placement-wise, the college is good compared to other good colleges in Punjab or India.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good, and all basic facilities are also good in the college, like gym, library, and classrooms, which are neat and clean. Also, Wi-Fi facility is available throughout the college. So infrastructure is good and nice, and basic facilities are provided.
Faculty: All faculty are experts, and most of them have completed Ph.D. in specific subjects. Some persons lag in teaching, but their concepts are mostly clear. The curriculum is also well updated and includes modern subjects and topics. In one year, 4 exams are conducted, and 2 exams are conducted per semester.

My college is good, but my department is not.
Placements: In my department, ie. Mechanical engineering. All the students who were eligible are placed. Basically, CG above. The highest package is 18 LPA from EIL, and the lowest package is 3.6LPA from Proxima and Infosys. Top companies are Amazon, Flipkart, and PSUs. Around 40% students got internships from my course in BIS, Honeywell, and Mondelez. Top roles offered are for a Design Engineer, Data Analyst, and GET.
Infrastructure: The facilities of NIT JALANDHAR are awesome. Institute Wi-Fi is everywhere, even if you dont recharge, you will be surviving easily on Wi-Fi throughout the whole campus. In my department, the labs and some of the classes are not air conditioned. Labs, I can understand maintaining the temperature of the setup, but in classrooms. The quality of the mess food is average, edible. In the first year, I got such good food, but when I jumped into the second year. I got food poisoning and stomach infections, but my body adjusted. Medical facilities are good, we mech boys take out multivitamins, skincare.
Faculty: Mechanical teachers are famous in our whole college for their strictness. Teachers are helpful, but only a few. The course curriculum is outdated. Ice engines and all. Semester exams give no gaps, no preparatory gaps. They set hard papers. You have to study to get good grades.
Other: I will be honest, the campus life is boring, 0 exposure. I chose this course because I wanted to be placed in an automobile company. Events are dead. Scholarships are mainly for low income families with an annual income of below 2 Lakhs.

A:

For last year, the closing rank for BTech in Mechanical Engineering was 43133 which is very close to this range. This was for the General category under the All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut-offs keep changing year on year, it is advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of getting admission to NIT Jalandhar BTech in Mechanical Engineering.

A:

The cutoff trend for BTech at NIT Jalandhar has been increased in the recent years. In 2021, the closing rank for BTech under General category for AIQ was 10169. In 2022, it increased to 11547.

This is likely to continue, as the demand grows for engineering education in India. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.

Q:   Is NIT-Jalandhar good for B.Tech CSE?
A:
Environment is good. Seniors are always friendly. No ragging. Ragging is prohibited strictly. Punjabi food is nice. So, obviously mess food is average. Various events. There are various clubs like LADS, MADS etc. For co-curricular activities. You will get exposure to brilliant minds (I am talking about seniors and not faculty). Placements for all branches are good.
