NIT Meghalaya Courses & Fees 2026: UG, PG, Doctorate Courses

NIT Meghalaya BTech programme isn’t ranked internationally. However the BTech programmehas been ranked under National Institutional Ranking Framework, NIRF. NIRF is an approved by the MHRD and was launched by Honourable Minister of Human Resource Development on 29^th of September 2015. The NIRF has ranked NIT Meghalaya BTech programme 72 among top engineering colleges in India.

NIT Meghalaya admission is based on the eligibility criteria as per the admission guidelines.  Find below the details around eligibility & selection criteria for NIT Meghalaya course admission 2026:

 NIT Meghalaya JEE Main cutoff 2026 was published for the first round for admission to several BTech course specialisations. The cutoff was published for different AI and HS quota categories. 

For the General AI category, the round 1 cutoff for the BTech CSE branch was 23809. Students can see the table below to know the cutoff for all other categories. 

Competition for General AI candidates in BTech CSE has decreased for three consecutive years. The round five closing rank relaxed to 28662 in 2026. NIT Meghalaya is a Institute of National Importance is experiencing significant transitional growth. Institute is relocating from its temporary Shillong location to its 300 acre permanent campus in Cherrapunji. Classes are commencing on the new site reaching 100% operational capacity will likely require 2 to 4 years as remaining infrastructural developments & large scale hostel facilities are completed.

For admission to MSc programme at NIT Meghalaya candidate must complete the institution's entrance standards, which include achieving a valid score in the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test for MSc followed by CCMN Counselling.  Also candidates have to fulfill the eligibility criteria i.e. Bachelor's degree with 60% aggregate.  NIT Meghalaya conducts its own admission process for the left over seats from the CCMN counselling process.

These courses are offered in different specialisations. 

 NIT Meghalaya offeres MSc in full time under three specialisations, as follows

• Physics
• Chemistry 

• Mathematics

The programme is offered via choice-based credit system covering core subject topics, including Organic Chemistry, Symmetry & Group Theory, Molecular Spectroscopy, etc. Students can get into the MSc course based on a valid score on the IIT JAM exam and the counseling conducted by the Centralized Counseling for MSc CCMN

For admission in B.Tech mechanical engineering you have to clear JEE. The cuttoff varies as per the year in the year 22 batch they got at 95 even (general) if you are from categories like OBC/sc/st  it vary even up to 90/87/85. As in the same pattern, the cuttoff for female candidate is different.

Admission requirements can vary from year to year and depend on various factors like students appering inJEEand no of seats avilable in collages. Few other factors like candidates droping from the college.

Once students have registered on the GATE application portal, they must participate in the subsequent CCMT counselling process. In this process, the M.Tech seats are allocated based on the candidate's performance in the GATE exam and the availability of seats. Those who are allocated a seat via this process must pay an admission fee of to secure their admission.

To get an M.Tech seat at NIT Meghalaya, students must follow the below-mentioned steps:

1. Check the eligibility criteria. Only those who meet the eligibility criteria are considered for the selection process.

2. If eligible, apply for the GATE exam.

3. After the exam results, participate in the subsequent counselling process.

4. If allocated a seat, report to the institute for verification of documents.

5. Pay the admission fee to secure the seat.

NIT Meghalaya offers various specialisations under its M.Tech programme. Some of the specialisations are Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. The distribution of seats among all specialisations is equal. Under each specialisation, the institute offers 25 seats each. The allocation of these seats is done based on valid GATE score and CCMT counselling process.
