NID Entrance Exam MDes Result 2026: Check Scorecard & Rank List Here

NID M.Des Prelims Result has been released on the webiste of NID. Candidates can download the result using email id and date of birth.

The steps to check NID DAT 2026 results are given below.

1. Click on the result link
2. In the log-in window that opens, enter the following details
   • Email id
   • Date of Birth
3. On login, the DAT Mains results will be displayed on the screen.
4. Download and take a printout of the result.

The DAT Prelims scorecard will include the following information.

• Name of the program
• Candidate’s name
• Roll number
• Category applied to
• Part I (Objective) Score
• Part II (Subjective) Score
• Total (Score)
• Qualifying status - whether the candidate has been provisionally SHORTLISTED or not.

Rechecking Request for DAT Prelims for M.Des will open today from 6 PM. It will close on February 14, 2026. The rechecking window for the NID DAT (Prelims) B.Des result is to open on April 07, 2026 and will be available for one day. 

Rechecking window is also there for NID Mains Exam, both for B.Des and M.Des programmes. For B.Des programme, the rechecking window is expected to open in the third week of May 2026 and for the M.Des programme, the rechecking window will open around the first week of May 2026.

What is NID DAT Rechecking Process?

The rechecking process was restricted to

• Whether all the answers have been marked.
• Whether there has been any mistake in the totalling of marks for each question in Part II of the answer booklet, and in transferring the marks correctly onto the first cover page of the answer booklet.

Note: The rechecking process did not involve a re-evaluation of any other aspect of the answer booklet. Candidates were required to submit a fee of INR 2,000 per discipline (expected) for their requests.

NID DAT Prelims Result Re-Evaluation - Key Points

• Candidates can submit the request for re-checking of NID answer booklet in online mode on the official website of the exam only
• Any request submitted via email will be rejected by the institute
• Re-checking requests submitted without a scanned copy of the NID admit card signed by the invigilator with the seal of the NID test center will not be processed by the institute
• The fee for re-checking of NID result is Rs 2,000. Candidates need to pay the fee online.
• Details regarding the steps to submit NID results for re-checking/re-evaluation will be available in due course
• The communication regarding the revision of marks will be made to candidates at their registered email address

If two or more candidates secure the same marks in the NID DAT 2026 exam, then a tie-break policy will be adopted to determine the merit ranks. Check out the tie-break policies for the B.Des and M.Des programs below. 

NID DAT 2026 Result (Prelims) - Tie-Break Policy

The following tie-break policy will be used to determine the merit ranks of candidates if they secure similar scores in DAT Prelims.

Tie-break policy for B.Des program

1. Higher rank to be given to the aspirants who have secured higher marks in Part B of DAT Prelims  
2. If a tie still exists, then a higher rank is to be given to the aspirants who have secured higher marks in Part A of the DAT Prelims
3. If the tie still exists, then both candidates will be given the same rank

Tie-break policy for the M.Des program

1. A higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part II/Part III).
2. If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Prelims (Part I).
3. If this still does not break the tie, then both candidates will be assigned the same rank. 

NID DAT 2026 Result (Mains) - Tie-Break Policy  

The following tie-break policy will be used to determine the merit ranks of candidates if they secure similar scores in DAT Mains.

Tie-break Policy for B.Des program

1. A higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Mains.
2. If the tie persists, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate with higher marks in Stage 1 of the Design Aptitude Test.
3. If the tie is still undecided, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part B.
4. If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part A.
5. If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in the question of the DAT Mains exam, which carries the maximum marks.

Tie-break Policy for M.Des program

1. A higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Mains.
2. If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in the DAT Mains- Studio test.
3. If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Prelims.
4. If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in DAT Prelims Part II/III (Subjective).
5. If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in the question of the DAT Mains exam, which carries maximum marks.
6. If this does not break the tie, the same rank will be assigned to the candidates.

The National Institute of Design will release the NID DAT 2026 minimum qualifying criteria for the NID DAT 2026 Final results. The candidate will be considered for admission to the B.Des and M.Des programs only if they score the cut-off criteria in their admission category, as shown in the table below.

It may be noted that apart from the minimum qualifying criteria, the National Institute of Design also releases institute-wise NID cutoffs to allot seats to candidates based on merit. 

The National Institute of Design will release merit lists separately for DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

1. Merit list for DAT Mains - This merit list will be prepared by considering NID DAT Prelims 2026 scores. It will be used to shortlist candidates for DAT Mains. This means only such candidates who are included in the list can appear in the DAT Mains.  
2. Final merit list of NID DAT 2026 - This list will be prepared by considering the merit rank of the candidate in NID DAT 2026 Final results. The NID DAT 2026 seat allotment and counselling are expected to be conducted by considering the final merit list. The merit lists will be released for categories such as General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD.

How will the NID DAT 2026 Final Merit List be prepared?

The National Institute of Design will release category-wise common FINAL merit lists by considering the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate in DAT Mains and DAT Prelims. The NID DAT 2026 merit list was released for the Open, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD categories. 

The common merit list will be generated in percentile form.

Note: The merit list for Overseas candidates will be prepared separately.

Important Points About NID DAT 2026 Final Merit List

• NID DAT final merit lists for NID Ahmedabad will be generated category-wise (Open, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD) and as per merit, based on the scores obtained by the candidate in the DAT Mains.
• Separate merit list will be prepared for Overseas candidates for B.Des. programme.
• NIDs will use the score of the DAT Mains for admission to their respective institution. If seats remain vacant, independent NIDs may conduct additional DAT Mains Exam for admission to vacant seats in their respective campuses.
• Hard copies of the NID Merit Rank or scorecard will not be sent.
