GATE 2021 registration, a three-step online process, begins on September 11 and lasts till October 7. Here all you need to know about GATE registration 2021 including dates, fees, and detailed application process.

IIT Bombay has extended the last date to fill the GATE 2020 application form without late fee. Candidates can fill the form till October 7 now without a late fee and till October 12 with a late fee of Rs 500. In addition to that, candidates will be able to change details in their GATE 2020 application form from October 28 by paying a fee of Rs 500 for each change. The correction window will be available until November 13

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay will made available the GATE 2021 Application Form for all the candidates aspiring for the exam. According to the official notification, GATE 2021 will be conducted by IIT Bombay from February 5-7 and February 12-13 across 200 cities in India and six cities abroad. The exam will be held for a total of 27 papers this year.

Eligibility to Apply for GATE 2021

Candidates applying for GATE 2021 must ensure that they fulfill the basic eligibility criteria as set by the conducting authority. Take a look at the generic eligibility guidelines for GATE exam 2021:

  • Candidates should either possess a bachelor’s degree in BE/BTech, BSc or BArch with 60% – 70% marks in the qualifying exam, Or
  • A master’s degree in ME/ MTech, MA, MSc, MCA with 60% – 70% marks in the qualifying exam from a recognized university/ institute
  • Candidates in the final year of their degree programme can also apply for GATE

Step-by-step procedure for GATE 2021 registration

 

GATE 2021 Registration Process

GATE registration is a three-step online process which will include to first create a login, fill the GATE application form and pay the application fee. Given below is a step by step guide for candidates to be able to register for the GATE exam 2021.

Step 1: Register for GATE on GOAPS

To begin with GATE 2021 registration, candidates will have to first register on the official website of the exam which is GOAPS. Follow the below steps to register:

  • Visit the official website of GOAPS
  • Click on “Candidate Registration”
  • Enter your name, date of birth, email id and phone number 
  • Click on generate OTP
  • Enter the OTP as sent on your mobile number
  • Verify the same to complete GATE 2021 registration

Step 2: Fill GATE 2021 application form 

After successful registration, an email containing the GOAPS Enrolment ID will be sent to the candidates on the email id provided. Candidates can use this enrollment ID and password to log in. Once successfully logged in, candidates can begin filling the GATE 2021 application form. The following data will be required while filling the GATE application form on GOAPS:

  • Personal Information including name, date of birth, mobile number, parent’s name, and mobile number
  • Address of communication using PIN code
  • Academic qualifications
  • College name and address with PIN code
  • GATE Paper
  • Choice of GATE exam centre
  • Scanned copies of eligibility certificate, candidate’s photograph, signature and category certificate (if any)
  • Details of valid ID proofs

Step 3: Pay GATE application fee

The third and the last step involved in GATE 2021 registration is the payment of application fee. After filling the GATE application form, candidates will have to click on “Submit and Continue” to process with the fee payment. Candidates will have to make the payment of the GATE 2021 registration fee by using net banking, debit or credit card. GATE 2021 Registration: Supporting Document

Candidates will be required to upload the scanned copies of the following documents while filling GATE application form:

  • Passport Size photograph and signature: The images should be of high quality and match your present appearance. The files must be in JPEG format and a standard size of 3.5 cm X 4.5 cm.
  • Eligibility Documents: Candidates will have to upload the scanned copies of the degree/ certificate of the qualifying exam that is listed in the GATE eligibility norms. In case of candidates in their final year, they will have to obtain a certificate from the HOD and upload its scanned copy as a proof
  • Category/ PwD, Dyslexic Certificate: Candidate belonging to reserved categories have to download the caste/PwD certificate from GOAPS Website. They will have to fill, self-attest and upload the scanned copy along with other documents

Q. When will the GATE 2021 be conducted?

A. IIT Bombay will conduct the GATE 2021 exam from February 5-7 and February 12-14, 2021. 

Q. Are there any changes in GATE 2021 Eligibility Criteria from previous years’?

A. Yes, there are significant changes in the GATE 2021 eligibility criteria from that of last year’s. Now, the candidates studying in the third year of their graduation can also apply for the exam. In addition to that candidates can also appear for two papers now.

Q. Are there any new subjects added in GATE 2021?

A. Yes, two new subjects have been added in GATE 2021. The subjects are Environmental Science & Engineering (ES) and Humanities and Social Sciences (XH). 

Q. Do Arts final year students are eligible to apply for GATE?

A. Yes, Arts final year students are eligible to apply for the exam. It is the new eligibility criteria of GATE 2021 that allow arts and commerce candidates to apply for the exam. 

Q. When will the GATE 2021 application form release?

A. GATE 2021 application forms will be available online from September 11, 2020, on the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) website. The last date to fill the application without a late fee is October 7 and with a late fee (Rs 500) is October 12.

Q. My aggregate marks in graduation is 65%, am I eligible for GATE 2021?

A. Yes, you can apply for the exam. Candidates with 60% or above in graduation can appear for GATE 2021. 

Q. How many attempts are there for GATE 2021?

A. There is no limitation on the number of attempts for GATE. Candidates can appear for the exam as many times as they wish.

Q. Is there any upper age limit for GATE 2021?

A. No, there is no upper age limit for appearing in GATE 2021.

Q. What will be the payment mode for paying the GATE 2021 application fee?

A. Candidates can pay GATE 2021 application fee online only via debit card, credit card and net banking.
