June 30, 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has launched the second batch of its Certificate Programme in Generative AI to meet the soaring demand for future-ready AI professionals. Delivered through the Continuing Education Programme (CEP), this six-month executive learning experience empowers learners with deep expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and responsible AI practices. The programme aims to scale innovation among professionals and drive transformation while building scalable AI solutions across industries.

The need for skilled talent in the realm of artificial intelligence has never been more urgent. A study by PwC projects that AI could contribute up to USD 15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030, positioning it as one of the most economically transformative technologies of the modern era. A report by BCG reveals that while most companies are investing in AI, only around 26% succeed in scaling it to deliver measurable value. Equipped with tools such as Python, NumPy, TensorFlow, PyTorch, spaCy and Hugging Face, learners engage in guided tutorials and capstone projects that simulate real-world applications of AI in sectors including healthcare, finance, education and autonomous technologies.

As the programme progresses, learners explore the architecture and training strategies of state-of-the-art models such as GPT, BERT and T5. The curriculum delves into transformative techniques including instruction tuning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), reinforcement learning with human feedback (RLHF) and prompting methodologies that enhance model reasoning and factual accuracy.

Reflecting on the significance of this programme, Prof. Tanmoy Chakraborty, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi said, “The Certificate Programme in Generative AI is built on the conviction that Generative AI will define the future of innovation, creativity and decision-making. We are preparing professionals not merely to understand AI, but to architect the frameworks through which it will shape industries and society. Our aim is to equip learners with a rare blend of depth, responsibility and practical acumen, ensuring that they are future-ready in every sense of the term.”

Eligible applicants must hold a graduate or postgraduate degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematical disciplines and successful learners will be conferred with E-Certification by IIT Delhi CEP.

Good infrastructure and facilities, and a lot more to explore.

Placements: Around 70-80 percent of the batch get placed in PIE, while roughly around 10-12 percent of the students opt for higher studies and prepare for competitive exams. The highest is around something between 50 LPA and 70 LPA, while the average is above 16 LPA, and the lowest is found to be 8 LPA. Really good infrastructure and facilities and quite good alumni connections.

Placements: Approximately 90 percent of students are placed in my branch. The highest was about 80 LPA and the minimum was 10-12 LPA, with an average of 20-22 LPA. Many people still want to place in tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and there are also core companies like Jaguar, Tata, and many more automobile companies. About 50-60 percent are managers or team heads.

Poor hostel conditions, but great library and teaching facilities.

Placements: Now even IIT Delhi's placement results are not upto the mark. Even though almost everyone applying gets a job, the packages being offered aren't satisfying. The highest packages go to around 2 crores, while the lowest can go till 10 LPA. Almost all the top companies, including Google and Microsoft, recruit from the college. Quants like Jane Street and Optiver take in applicants of second/third year for internships. They give a huge stipend for a summer internship. All sorts of roles are offered....
