JEE Main 2019 Topper Interview (January Exam): Dhruv Arora from Indore secures 100 percentile
Dhruv Arora emerged as one of the JEE Main 2019 toppers with 100 percentile when NTA declared the exam results on January 19 for Paper 1. He is amongst the 15 candidates who got a perfect score in JEE Main 2019 exam conducted in January. A resident of Indore, Dhruv has no plans of pursuing his undergraduate studies from the esteemed IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology). Infact, he might choose IISC Bangalore over IITs because of his love for Physics.

According to this 100 percentiler, JEE Main 2019 January exam was easier and simpler than the exam conducted in the last few years. Speaking to the media, he said, "I will appear for JEE Advanced but I have not decided to go for IITs only. As physics is my favourite subject, I want to do something in theoretical physics in future and hence I am also considering the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore".
Dhruv lost his mother three years ago but it was his father who helped him get through the phase without letting the tragedy distract him from his ultimate goal. This Indore topper's next goal is to appear for National Olympiads and further prepare for JEE Advanced.
Best Books To Refer For JEE Main
Dhruv shared that NCERT books helped him a lot during his preparation phase and that he credits all his success to these books. According to him, being thorough with NCERT books is enough to crack JEE Mains. He was quoted as saying, "The exam was easy. I practised NCERTs and previous years’ question papers. I also appeared for national level Olympiads which not only gave me a sense of where my preparation stands at the national level but also helps me represent my country in my own way".
Strategy To Appear For JEE Main 2019
While appearing for the actual JEE Main 2019 January exam, Dhruv spent more time on subjects he found difficult. He started with the Chemistry paper and then followed it with Mathematics and Physics respectively. Sharing his strategy of solving the paper, he said, “I started with chemistry and finished the entire section in 30 minutes. After that, I focused on mathematics and gave as much time to it and tried to be more accurate. I was confident in physics and hence knew I would be able to work through it even in limited time", reported a national daily.
Preparation Strategy For JEE Advanced 2019
According to Dhruv, NCERT and previous years' question papers are enough to qualify JEE Advanced.
Tips for other JEE candidates
Candidates appearing for the April session of JEE Main 2019 should familiarize themselves with the format of the exam and the type of questions asked therein. He also suggests solving previous years’ question papers.
Hobbies
Besides studying, Dhruv is also fond of sports and likes playing table tennis and football whenever he gets time. He believes in maintaining a balance between studies and extra-curricular activities. He shared that he spent 5-6 hours every day towards self-study but also watched movies and practiced sports.
