The Staff Selection Commission mentioned the Multi Tasking Staff & Havaldar exam pattern in the official notification. There is only 1 paper in the exam and the candidates are required  perform well in that to get selected. The SSC MTS exam will be conducted online as a Computer-Based Exam(CBE) at the designated exam centres. The candidates are required to appear in the exam and score above their category-cutoff to get the appointment in the desired department.

The candidates must prepare all the topics mentioned in the official notification because the Commission do not mention the weightage of the topics. The candidates can see the SSC MTS question papers of previous years to know the demand of the SSC MTS exam. The candidates should internalise the SSC MTS exam pattern so that they can attempt the exam within time without failing. The SSC MTS 2025 syllabus is the most important component for preparation.

SSC MTS Syllabus 2025

The Staff Selection Commission added various topics in the arithmetic section and added Comprehension in the English section. The Commission also revised the marking structure of the SSC MTS paper 1 and removed the negative marking from the Numerical and Mathematical Ability and Reasoning Ability and Problem-Solving section. The number of questions was also changed for the Numerical and Mathematical Ability and Reasoning Ability and Problem-Solving section. The SSC MTS paper 1 is conducted online as a Computer-Based Exam (CBE) and the candidates need to check all the details about the exam in the official notification.

Q:   Can I crack SSC MTS without coaching?

The candidates can easily crack the SSC MTS exam without coaching. There is nothing in the SSC MTS syllabus which is difficult to prepare. It is not essential to join a coaching institute to prepare for the SSC MTS exam. SSC MTS Paper 1 has four sections, namely

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning
  • Numerical Aptitude
  • General Awareness

The candidates are suggested to practice with the previous year's question papers to know the difficulty level of the exam and the important topics from where the questions have been asked.

This section was almost changed and made more comprehensive. The questions in this part intend to measure the candidates’ general learning ability.

SSC MTS Paper 1 General Awareness Syllabus

The candidates need to check the details of the SSC general awareness topics as mentioned in the official notification. Questions are also designed to test a candidate’s knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects. The candidates should note that the Staff Selection Commission changed the SSC MTS exam pattern in 2022. The Commission dropped the tier 2 exam from the exam process and now there is only one online exam which decides the selection of the candidate.  The total marks of the SSC MTS 2025 Tier 1 exam will be 270. There will be 90 questions and each question will be 3 marks. The total duration of the SSC MTS 2025 Tier 1 exam will be 90 minutes

The SSC introduced sections in the SSC MTS Tier 1 exam in 2022. The SSC MTS paper 1 is divided into two sections. One section employs the negative marking for the candidates. There is a partial negative marking in the paper.

Q:   How many stages are there in the SSC MTS exam recruitment?

The Staff Selection Commission changed the SSC MTS exam pattern altogether. The Commission removed the Paper 2 (descriptive) from the selection process. Now there are only two stages in the SSC MTS exam. These are mentioned below:

  • SSC MTS Paper 1
  • PET/PST for Havaldar Posts

The Document Verification process will be carried out by the indenting user department. In addition to above, the Commission changed the SSC MTS Paper 1 exam pattern and removed negative marking from the Numerical and Mathematical Ability and Reasoning Ability and Problem-Solving section.

The candidates are required to score marks equal to or more than their category cutoff to get selected for the exam. There are no such passing marks which can ensure selection. SSC MTS exam is a competitive exam and the candidates can be selected even when they score low marks if the overall cutoff is decreased.

The SSC MTS paper 2 can be called as a skill test. The candidates need to write a short essay or a letter in the stipulated time of 30 minutes.
